A little rain didn't scare away all them dirty jeeps from one our favorite events of the year! Huge thank you to JK Land Jeep Sales and Outfitters for hosting our annual Jeep Wash and for their continued partnership and of youth cycling in Paulding County!
Congratulations to our very own Sheridan Gable and her Dad, Michael for completing a double hundo! They rode to Coldwater, rode Coldwater and then rode home! Wow! What an effort!
The Gables are training for the TNGA in August, Sheridan aims to be the youngest female to ever complete the race!
Congratulations to our very own coach Josh Camp for winning the MTB Atlanta Sorba Volunteer of the year award! Josh is an amazing coach and leads the way with his contagious spirit, creativity and unwavering dedication to our sport and our local trails!
We love you coach Josh!
We want to give a shout out to our very own Sheridan Gable and Abby Mangual of our sister team Allatoona Creek Mountain Bike Teams. Who are at the Tennessee Nationals at Windrock Bike Park this weekend! You gotta hand it to these west side girls they are bad lasses!!
Go Abby and Sheridan! We are all rooting for you guys!
Congratulations to Timmy Mattick for winning the Cycology Bike Shop rider of the week for the North Paulding MTB Team. Timmy had high hopes for a strong performance at “The Clash at the Creek” race at Allatoona Creek Park, but a huge crash on the start line put him in a big hole. After being checked out by the medical team, he wiped away the blood, grabbed a new helmet and started the chase. He passed over 30 riders to make up time and finished the race with a very respectable place in a super tough field. Timmy is definitely the toughest kid on our team and his effort and attitude is unmatched.
Way to go Timmy, you are the Cycology Bike Shop rider of the week.
The Hardy Family Automotive Group rider of the week is Liam Maple. In just his second year of racing this 7th grader has shown that he has the hunger to compete. He’s been putting in loads of extra work and it paid off with an amazing 2nd place finish at the first Georgia Cycling Association race of the year at the Bartram Forest Trails in Milledgeville. We can’t wait to see how far he can go!
The JK Land Jeep Sales and Outfitters rider of the week is senior Larry Staelens. Larry is a platinum athlete this year in the Georgia Cycling Association, which means he’s competed in the league for all 7 years of middle and high school. His heart and attitude is what makes this guy an MVP and we are super proud of his accomplishments. When not racing, Larry can usually be found ferociously cheering on his teammates and competitors. Congratulations on this awesome accomplishment and we wish him luck for his last season before graduation.
Our 2023 Cycology Bike Shop Bike Raffle. Congrats Brayden Gardner.
Our graduated senior who purchased 18 tickets to support other riders and also supporting as a volunteer coach! Congratulations!!

Great day at the Invitational Dallas Christmas Parade today! Special thanks goes out to Team Shrowdy and the Allatoona Creek Composite Mountain Bike Team for joining in on the fun this year!
This girl right her is our hero. THE first Georgia Cycling Association leader jersey in Paulding County Composite MTB Team and North MTB history. The “Future Hope Foundation” excellence award goes to THE one, THE only Sheridan Gable.
We are so proud of this young lady and we’re super excited to see how far she can go. Go Sher Bear, Go!
This week’s Los Magueys rider of the week is Ryan Christmas (AKA Karl Kwanza.) This freshman from North Paulding has been killin’ it with his effort and attitude this season culminating in a 7th place finish in one of the most stacked fields in the Georgia Cycling Association. We are all super proud of his consistency and toughness and we can’t wait to see his continued growth take him to the top. Keep it up Karl, you make us all proud.
Part of being a MTBer is trail advocacy and trail maintenance. Each rider on our team is required to complete 6 hours of trail volunteering. Most do many more than 6!
MTB Atlanta and the Paulding County Composite MTB Team of the Georgia Cycling Association were out this afternoon repairing the dilapidated bridge on Pine Pong at Mt. Tabor Park in Paulding. We’re working hard to build our relationship with Paulding County Parks to show we mean business about local trail advocacy.
If you’d like to learn about new trail opportunities in Paulding, follow the link below and give your input on a new project at Richland Creek Reservoir. It’s a beautiful piece of land with awesome potential for natural surface multi-use trails. Click the link and tell ‘em what you think.

Timmy “AUTO” Mattick is our Hardy Family Automotive Group rider of the week. He battled through tremendous adversity and finished the Clash at the Creek showing his Effort, Attitude, & Toughness the whole way. After a strong first lap, Timmy had an accident and broke his chain with 4 miles left in his race. Never one to give up, he dusted himself off and ran his bike out the full 4 miles to the finish line and collapsed exhausted. We couldn’t be prouder of him and we can’t wait to see what he does at the next race.
Shout out to our Los Magueys rider of the week Sheridan Gable for her gritty performance at the first Georgia Cycling Association race of the year. Sheridan almost nabbed the top spot on the 7th grade podium with her second place finish. All the hard work she did in the winter to prepare for this season is paying off. Great job, now go get that win girl!
Check out the parent FB page to know where practice is tonight (Monday the 22nd).
HELP SAVE OUR TRAILS!
The Mt. Tabor Park Mountain Bike Trails in Paulding County are under threat. These natural surface trails have been a safe haven for the community and now parts of it are being bulldozed. The Paulding Commissioners sold the easement to a high-density housing developer for $10, granting them an access road that will go right through the middle of our beautiful park. The 40 or so middle and high school student athletes on our Georgia Cycling Association team will now be forced to find another place to practice, not to mention all of the other park goers that use these trails on a daily basis.

Senior Spotlight: Camden Allen
"Cam" joined Paulding County Composite MTB Team in its 2nd year and then moved onto the North MTB team as an inaugural member. He quickly distinguished himself as a leader amongst his peers, taking on the role of Team Captain in his senior year. He was a 4 year High School rider and earned his gold plated season. He also holds the distinction of being the only person to win the “RPM Award” 2 years in a row! Once we finally convinced him to change gears, he got really fast and moved into the top ranks of the team. Camden’s personality and his commitment to the younger members of the team will be sorely missed and is not easily replaceable.
Cam’s future plans include attending Lineman school in North Georgia. After he graduates he immediately hopes to be hired & work for a company like Georgia Power, Greystone or Pike. And he course he intends to remain as “Shrowdy” possible!
We wish Cam the best of luck and all the success in the world as he rides off into the next adventure!
Coaches and riders, if you're looking for ways to do your 6 hours of community service this is a great way to knock off two hours. This event is 10 years running and is so cool. I know many of you have come to our PC Comp and North Paulding team because of this event.
Also, the little ones LOVE hanging out and being taught mountain biking by the riders on the team. Come share your love for the sport with a young one and this is also a wonderful way to introduce a friend to the sport. So please invite a friend to ride and teach a kid to ride.
SORBA and MTB Atlanta are looking to provide bike education, safety, and maintenance tips to children aged 3-16 on Saturday, June 4th. They will be hanging out at the Mount Tabor Bike Trails that day from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This event is free to the public and is a great way to spend a nice Saturday morning. Grab your bike and helmet, show up, and hit the trails with SORBA and MTB Atlanta! Registration is currently open.
We are getting excited about our upcoming Reunion Ride on Saturday, April 23, 2022. If you know you are attending please please click "going" so we know how many pizzas need to be ordered.
With that said any adult planning to attend and ride with students needs to be a level 1 coach. No Exceptions! It doesn't take long to acquire your level 1 coaching status. Here is a link to see what you need to have done before next weekend. Just think once you have it done you won't have to worry about it for the rest of the season and you're good to go when July 1st comes around.

Also, if you know your child is joining the team please have them registered prior to next Saturday's event. If they are not registered you will need to sign a waiver for your child to participate. If you sign the waiver for this event you will then need to registered your child for the other pre-season events to participate.
Of course if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me either by email: [email protected] or calling me at 678-480-0462.
