Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity

We are proud to announce that NexBank and NexPoint Philanthropies will sponsor the construction of SIX new homes for families in the Dallas area through a generous $750,000 grant to Dallas Habitat! This affordable housing grant supports Dallas Habitat’s construction of two new single-family homes each year for the next three years. In addition, NexBank employees have committed to volunteering on the construction projects. The three-to four-bedroom homes will be built throughout Dallas County and the future homeowners will qualify through Dallas Habitat’s homeowner requirements. Let’s give a big round of applause to our new partners, NexBank and NexPoint Philanthropies for helping us address the need for sustainable and affordable housing in our community.

What a truly amazing day had celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Month! We had some truly generous sponsors and support this wonderful day! Thank you to our title sponsor Republic Services, and additional sponsor volunteers Mr. Cooper RealPage, Inc. State Farm and John Deere. We kicked off the day with from Dallas Yoga House, then we celebrated by painting a cultural mural from the original artist Yoonsoo, who was on hand to celebrate with us and shared a poem she wrote to commemorate her art. All the murals painted to adorn the house of the next Dallas Habitat homeowner. We also had Hula dancers from Grace Hula Dance perform and they even taught some of our volunteers a few moves!! Then we ended the day with cultural food from Fortune Houseand Bobaddiction. We cannot thank our community of volunteers and families enough! Thank you for all you do!! And as we were taught today…ALOHA which means hello, goodbye and L❤️VE!

What an amazing way to spend a beautiful day celebrating with our Spring 2024 New Homeowners!!! It truly is a day to celebrate and remember all the hard work, dedication and commitment these 8 remarkable families have shown in their journey to homeownership! We spent the day with a presentation from representatives from Congressman Mark Veasey’s office, and Congressman Crockett’s office and an opening prayer from Pastor Alph Coleman, Soldiers for Christ West Dallas. Some of the homeowners gave their heartfelt thanks for all of the love and support they received during their journey, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room!

We just kicked off Day 1 build! We celebrated the Women Build Home Recipient Martha, and her sweet family in a HUGE way! The Women Build 2024 Chair - Nadine S. Lee, President and CEO of Dallas Area Rapid Transit (Official DART page) was there to help us kick off this amazing build and she brought the DART build team volunteers with her in a DART bus!!! So AWESOME! Then we were joined by the City of Irving, Texas - City Hall Mayor Rick Stopfer for words of wisdom and encouragement on our new partnership to create a world where everyone has a safe place to call home!

What a wonderful day celebrating the The Hockaday School and St. Mark's School of Texas Home Build!! Akouele and her children were present to receive gifts and fellowship with the students!! These schools and students sponsor a home and build on it every year, and many have never built on a home before. It truly is so wonderful to see these students come and give of their time and show their support for our beloved communities!!! What a beautiful way to spend a beautiful day!!!
