Here is a video from this past weekend showing the progress on my pistol squat, and it illustrates several great points when it comes to the gym and life... ...I know the reps are sloppy and that brings me to my first the point: ❇️ Most progress isn't pretty. In a lot of cases, you have to do tons of crappy reps to get to the good ones! That's not always the case, but more often than not you're gonna look a lil silly before it looks easy 😎 ❇️ Try new things. I had never done a pistol squat before last week. Never. I've always hated training legs, so this was a perfect challenge as far as being new AND hard! ❇️ Challenge yourself. I had my hip replaced six months ago and had never performed that movement before last week. ❇️ Have a plan. Or pay someone to make a plan WITH you. I was able to execute something new and challenging because I paid someone that knew how to do it and could show me how. ❇️ Execute. Follow through. Show up when you say you will and work hard when you do. This is the easiest AND hardest for people to do. I realized I haven't posted much gym stuff in a while so... here's a clip from back/arms today and your free game for the day: Your rowing motions should originate from your elbow, not your hand... let me elaborate. ❇️ Your first movement should be slightly down with your elbow, not straight back with your hand. ❇️ Straight back w your hand will cause your biceps and rear delts to work too much. ❇️ I also like to keep my thumb on the same side of the grip as my fingers, this allows my forearm to relax and my lat to get a majority of the work. Try these 3 things on your rows next time and you'll have a lot more engagement with your lats and back muscles 💪 Red Bull gives you wings, but so do wide lats 😉 Happy Friday peeps 🐥
