Here are all the details: 🎶 Sanctuary Choir - rehearsals begin Wednesday, August 14th This auditioned choir provides musical leadership for Sunday morning worship approximately twice a month, as well as for holiday services. Sanctuary Choir repertoire emphasizes traditional and contemporary choral standards, music by underrepresented composers, and choral arrangements of folk songs and spirituals. 🗓 Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7-8:30 PM.   🎶 Kindred Voices - rehearsals begin Monday, August 26th This adult choir is geared toward individuals who have little to no singing experience, or who want a more laid-back experience with a reduced time commitment.   Repertoire includes world music, music by underrepresented composers, and traditional anthems.  Kindred Voices sing for worship approximately once per month.  🗓 Rehearsals are Mondays from 7 to 8 PM. The song “Blackbird” was written by Paul McCartney to honor the Little Rock Nine, a group of nine school children who were enrolled by the local NAACP in the school system in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957 and the 101st Airborne had to bring them to class for their safety. Dr. Melba Patio Beals was one of those children, and she talked about how when she heard the song, she heard the story of Black pain and perseverance. Almost 60 years after the original song was released, Beyoncé recorded her rendition. In it, Dr. Beals heard the message “I’ve done it, and you can do it too.” In the final sermon of our Artists Who Inspire series, Rev. T. J.
