Are you rushing into potty training before your child is ready?

This is a process that starts long before your child attempts to go on the potty. Don’t succumb to the pressure to begin before your child is ready, as this will only set up a challenging, stressful situation for you and your child.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) strongly recommends that parents avoid pushing their child into toilet training and suggests that the process begin only when the child is developmentally ready or shows signs of readiness.

Potty training is not about getting the child out of diapers in a day or a weekend. It’s about building good toileting habits and foundation.

If you:

- Want potty train in the next year
- Are in the process of potty training
- Finished potty training but are having a relapse

Sign up for my live webinar to learn how to facilitate this process and make it successful.

Did you feel pressured to start? Let me know in the comments!

Did you know that doing yoga with your child can help them in their potty training?

By pairing potty training with yoga movements that improve posture, increase hip mobility and lengthen the pelvic floor muscles, your child will improve their chances of potty training success. Not only do these movements help to prevent constipation, but they also help build core stability, motor learning, hip mobility, gross motor skills, and proprioception—or the awareness of the body’s position.

Pelvic floor muscles work closely with the abdominal muscles, lower back muscles, and diaphragm to help support the spine and stabilize the digestive tract. Practicing fluid movements like yoga can help children control bowel movements by using the pelvic floor muscles.

Our potty training activity book comes packed with several yoga flashcards to incorporate into your child’s training. We hope you use these to build up those pivotal muscle movements that lead to better bladder and bowel control in your child’s life!

What is your favorite yoga posture to incorporate into your day?
