Last night at the City Council meeting, I proudly spoke in support of Mayor Alves' Public Safety and Roads Bond package, which is a crucial investment in the future of our City. This Bond will ensure that our roads are safer and our emergency services are better equipped to respond quickly when lives are on the line.

I also stood against a proposed Republican amendment that would have further delayed the construction of a much-needed Fire station on the west side of Danbury. Such a delay could put lives at risk by extending response times during emergencies. Public safety is not something we can afford to play games with.

I’m committed to seeing this Bond passed on the November ballot, and I look forward to speaking with voters about why this is the right move for Danbury. As always, thank you Mayor Roberto Alves for your visionary leadership.

Last night, I had the privilege of joining Mayor Roberto Alves and State Representative Farley Santos to give opening remarks at the annual Miss and Teen Danbury pageant. This incredible event is more than just a competition; it’s an opportunity for young women to develop key leadership skills through active community involvement.

The dedication and passion shown by each participant is truly inspiring, and it is organizations like these that strengthen the fabric of our community. Congratulations to all the contestants, and thank you to Eva Aveiga and everyone else at Miss Danbury CT for inviting me, but most importantly, instilling the values of leadership and service in our future leaders.

Spent the night making phone calls with State Rep. Farley Santos and Mayor Roberto Alves in support of State Rep. Bob Godfrey’s primary campaign. Tomorrow is Election Day in Danbury for the Democratic primary, and Bob is facing a challenge. We’re almost there, but we’ve got a little more to go! Let’s get out the vote for Bob—he’s the experienced leader Danbury needs in the 110th district! I’m proud to be his constituent! 🗳️ ✅

Big moment in the 4th ward! Last week we celebrated the unveiling of the ceremonial street renaming of Byron Street to "VFW Post 149 Way." While I couldn’t be there in person, it was my honor to spearhead its passage on the City Council in partnership with the VFW Post leadership and the Mayor's Office. This is a small but meaningful gesture to honor our veterans and their unwavering service to our country. Always honored to support and recognize those who have given so much for our freedoms.

Today, I had the privilege of attending the Ecuadorian Independence Day flag-raising ceremony at City Hall. It was a beautiful celebration of Danbury’s Ecuadorian culture and heritage, which is such a large part of Danbury’s heart and soul.

As always great remarks from our Mayor Roberto Alves. A special congratulations to my dear friend, State Representative Farley Santos, on being named the 2024 Godfather of the Danbury Ecuadorian community and State Senator Julie Kushner for being named 2024 honorary Godmother.

Last night at our monthly City Council meeting, we began the process of passing a historic $49 million public safety and infrastructure bond. This is a pivotal step in building Danbury back better, and it represents the visionary leadership our city so desperately craved. Thank you, Mayor Roberto Alves, for your dedication and foresight. I am excited to engage with my colleagues and the voters to help secure its passage. Together, we can ensure a brighter and safer future for Danbury.

Crunch time!!! We had a rally this morning in support of Representative Bob Godfrey, who is facing a serious primary challenge in the 110th District. The choice before us is clear: continue Bob’s legacy of tirelessly fighting for the people of Danbury or risk losing the district to special interests. Bob has always put our community first, and we need his steadfast dedication now more than ever. Let's stand together and ensure Danbury's future remains in capable and experienced hands. Early voting starts Monday the 5th! Primary day is August 13th!

Yesterday, I attended the Danbury-area Korean War memorial ceremony. This event holds a special place in my family history, as my great uncle Cpl. Ralph A. Britton, USMC, bravely served and was tragically killed in action during the war at just 18 years old. His sacrifice, along with the sacrifices of so many others, reminds us of the immense cost of our freedoms. Let us never forget the courage and dedication of these heroes. 🇺🇸

That’s my mayor!

BREAKING NEWS: Today, Mayor Roberto Alves announced the City of Danbury will receive an additional $12 million in municipal aid and a $250,000 Working Cities Grant from the State of Connecticut, bringing unprecedented funds to the City of Danbury. This windfall of additional funds comes after the City received a $7.5 million increase in Education (ECS) funding. The legislative session ends this week - more to come!

04/08/2024

Experienced one of the most impactful discussions at a City Council budget committee meeting last week. The Board of Education presented their case for an unprecedented budget increase, which to me, shed light on two points:

1.) The previous administration negligently mishandled City finances by prioritizing election outcomes over responsible budgeting;

2.) There was lack of strategic planning by the Board of Education regarding their use of one-time COVID relief funds on personnel and other continuing operational costs. These costs now require a new funding source after the expiration of the one-time COVID relief funds.

I stood with the Mayor's proposed Education Department budget—a transparent step towards rectifying years of neglect. It's a responsible and necessary investment in our children, educators, and school staff. Thank you, Mayor Alves, for leading the way.

Saturdays on the move! Yesterday started off with attending a beautiful shabbat service at the United Jewish Center led by new Cantor, Lilah Sugarman. Then stopped by the Green to share in the celebration of Holi with the festival of colors–shout out Mini Santosh. I love this city!

Decided to make a road trip to support our Danbury High School Boys Basketball team as they visited the defending state champion Waterbury Career Academy. Let me tell you, DHS was ELECTRIC!!!! They pulled off a massive comeback in the 2nd half and secured the win. Way to not give up and battle that adversity!!! Well done!!! 🏀

Wishing you and your family a very joyous and merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

Busy week in Danbury! Last night I was Chairman of the ad hoc committee tasked with reviewing the City’s application for the CT DECD Community Investment Fund Grant. I’m pleased this item passed through committee and will be on the agenda for the full City Council to approve tonight. It should be a nice kick start to downtown revitalization.

12/13/2023

I was very honored to spearhead an effort and vote to recommend the ceremonial renaming of Byron Street to “VFW Post 149 Way” in honor of a great organization in the 4th Ward. Danbury VFW Post 149 is a more than deserving group and has done remarkable things for our veterans and our Danbury community. Congratulations on passing the first hurdle! One more to go… 🎉

📣 Friendly Reminder: Tomorrow, Monday, December 4th, at 8 PM, there will be a Special Meeting of the Danbury City Council and here's why you should be there:

🌟 It's Mayor Alves' first time presiding over the City Council since taking office! Witness history as our new mayor leads the way.

🗳️ Election of the Council President – The Council President is the top officer of the City Council and the one who steps up if there is ever a vacancy in the office of Mayor. This role is crucial in bridging both branches of city government. It's not just a title, it's a responsibility.

👥 We're also going to be electing our Caucus Leadership. We will meet privately, just the Democrats and just the Republicans, to choose the Majority and Minority Leader and Majority and Minority Legislative Leaders. These positions play a vital role in representing your voice and values on the Council while working in consultation with Mayor Alves in setting the legislative agenda.

🌐 This is where the new era in Danbury begins and YOU can be a part of it. Come watch as we elect leaders who will guide our community forward with Mayor Alves leading the way.

👉 Encourage your friends, neighbors, and everyone you know to attend and be a part of this significant moment in our city's governance. Feel free to comment or shoot me a message with any questions. See you tomorrow!

Had a great time at the 2023 City of Danbury Winter Festival where we got to see Mayor Roberto Alves “Light the Lights” for the first time as Mayor. Job well done by all involved! It was refreshing to see so much holiday joy in the air! This is easily my favorite time of the year. 🌲 ❄️

On Thursday, history was made as Roberto Alves was sworn in as the 32nd mayor of Danbury and I proudly took the oath for my second term on the City Council.

An ongoing journey and mission since 2017, when four of us ran for office the first time, it's astounding to see how far we've come. In 2017, most of this group didn't win, but fast forward to 2023, and one of us is now the Mayor, another a State Representative, and two proudly serve as City Councilmen. A good chapter completed, but the book is not finished. 😉

But the special moments don't end there. I am beyond humbled and filled with pride that public service has become a family affair. My mother, Luisa Britton, serves on the Board of Education, and my Father, Scott Britton, is a Constable. Three elected officials in the Britton family- who would have thought…

I can’t thank my family, friends, and loved ones enough for their never-ending support. Let’s go to work! What’s next?
