Dr. Alfonso and a baby Coati. Coatis are native to Central and South America, and are highly arboreal. Very much like their relatives, the raccoon, they are very curious and intelligent.

Before you pick up that disposable water bottle, make sure to remember our aquatic friends! ๐ In 2020, it was estimated that Florida put around 7,000 tons of โ plastic waste into its marine environments.โ ๐ถโ
โ
Even if you put your litter in the trash can, that doesn't always mean it will be properly disposed of! ๐ฎ While plastic waste is traveling from place to place, it can end up in our native waterways and pollute the environment of our water-faring friends! ๐ฒ If you want to help prevent the pollution of Florida's natural habitats, make sure to join ZooTampa in โ taking on the plastic-free eco-challenge by taking small steps to being plastic-free this July! โป๏ธโ

Femoral pores in Iguanas produce a waxy secretion used during breeding season. This male Rhinoceros Iguana had a mild impaction of the pores that required manual extraction. With minor husbandry adjustments, this shouldnโt be a major issue and this male should be back to being a stud in no time.
One month from today, we will be having our Reptile wellness clinic, hosted by Family Reptiles.
