Dinner at the Farm w/ Chef Dane Chef Dane has made a huge splash in the Dayton food scene. You don't want to miss this 5-course dinner w/ beverage pairings on the farm.

1st course- masala fried shisito peppers with mint chutney yogurt

2nd course-watermelon salad with pineapple mint, basil, Serrano chilies , cotija cheese, honey-white balsamic vinaigrette 

3rd course-minced lamb, roasted fairytale eggplant, hummus, sungold tomatoes, chickpea salad, harissa yogurt

4th course- vadouvan beef short rib, gold potatoes, caramelized onions, crispy shallot, roasted carrot, Manchego cheese 

5th course-A toasted sweet corn honey cake topped w lavender buttercream, candied orange and lemon slices , and edible flowers

We worked with our local chef partners to develop our market garden palette for the year to help serve their restaurants. Lucky for you we have a little extra to share. We are offering a limited amount of weekly produce CSA subscriptions. Comment LUCKY or DM us to secure your spot now.

This time of year is a special one, as anyone with even a remotely green thumb would know. As farmers and gardeners, everything we do now sets the scene for the months to come. Sowing seeds and preparing beds are only a small fraction of what it takes this time of year to run a small farm and we love every minute of it. We have been preparing hundreds of seedling to sell starting this weekend. The offerings will include some common varieties as well as varieties you might not be able to find at other garden centers. If you are looking for something extra special, grown locally by some people who have really put their heart and soul into a plant, come see us at 2nd street market this weekend for their outdoor market kickoff.

Volunteer support has been a huge part of our growth at Oak & Ember Farms and this week we are launching our official volunteer program. Tell your friends! 🗣️

Come for the whole timeframe OR an hour or two. Tasks include potting-up baby plants, light weeding, and exchanging cheesy garden jokes together. If Tuesdays or Saturdays don’t work for your schedule, just let us know.

Meet Cameron, Landscape Specialist. Cameron is from Dayton, OH and he joined the team one fateful day in Fall 2022.

Being our youngest team member, Cam is a consistent reminder that age is just a number. With his wise and gentle spirit, Cameron brings a passion for nature and ecology that is truly contagious. If you ask him what his dream home is, he’ll say “in the woods”. Cameron is also an avid native plant nerd and brings an inherent understanding and respect for working with plants that proves invaluable in the field.

Simple pleasures include:

It’s hard to fathom what our team would look like without Cameron’s affirming presence and authenticity. Thank you for all you do, Cam!

🪴MEET THE TEAM👋

Next up! Meet Eric, Landscape specialist. Eric is from Dayton, OH and has been a crucial member of the team since summer 2022.

Before joining the team Eric took pleasure in gardening, skills building, and food preservation, while working in public service for several decades.

A desire to develop a deeper knowledge of sustainable living and regenerative agriculture lead Eric to leave his job of over 20 years in pursuit of spending his days with nature. Since then Eric has also started with a close friend — a business creating fermented foods and educating others how to explore food preservation techniques.

His simple pleasures include:
✔️ a river to fish
✔️ hot showers and hot coffee
✔️ smoothing out
✔️ being barefoot
✔️ campfires

Eric brought an immediate sense of trust and competence upon joining the team and to this day provides daily support and problem-solving skills in a multitude of ways. Thank you, Eric!

Oak and Ember Farms teams with entrepreneur to offer flower subscriptions Oak and Ember Farms is partnering with Dayton entrepreneur Carly Short to lead a cut-flower subscription program.

🌼MEET THE TEAM👋

First up! Meet Rachel, our market garden & project manager. Rachel is from the Yellow Springs, OH area and has been with us since Spring 2023.

Rachel has a background in video production and urban gardening, the latter of which has led her on a journey in recent years of fully harnessing her passion for all things . After working on a farm in Costa Rica and a in New Mexico, Rachel landed back in Ohio fully focused on living intentionally and growing her skills in the space of collaborative, sustainable agriculture. Rachel quickly found a groove working with our existing team and continues to shine and impress more and more each day!

Her simple pleasures include:
✔️ stinky cheeses
✔️ cooking with unusual ingredients
✔️ loud socks
✔️ hugging a good hugger

💖We are launching our first ever cut flower subscription just in time for Valentine’s Day y’all!

All flowers will be organically grown at our farm located right outside of downtown Dayton. Subscription packages are now available for pre-order on our site and there are limited spots available!
