Today, I was so happy I had an opportunity to attend another important gathering at Sinclair Community College, along with so many community members and my colleagues from the Greater Dayton League of Women Voters.

We joined together to celebrate Juneteenth, an important day where our nation moved another step forward toward the equal treatment of all peoples. I was proud to learn of Sinclair’s forward-thinking approach in recognizing this important day on behalf of its staff (I.e. Sinclair made this a holiday before our Nation officially recognized it). I was also encouraged by the hopeful spirit echoed by speakers and college leaders alike, by my friends at the table as we shared our personal experiences. Thank you for such an impactful event!

Thank you to the family and friends and what feels like an entire community of prayer warriors for all the support you have shown me and my family these past few weeks.

My Dad is recovering from some health concerns and is in great care in St. Clairsville. While we know he still has several weeks to go and another surgery, we also know that each day we have together has been a gift from God. Please know that we continue to pray for all of you and your families, too.

For my friends who didn’t see this on LinkedIn… I am officially JUDGE Jennifer A. Petrella -effective Monday, June 3rd! So proud to be serving besides Administrative Judge Timothy D. Wood and leading the best staff ever!

Yesterday, a friend, underwent surgery to remove cancer and determine next steps for treatment.

Today, I had a chance to enjoy a book about sharks with a young child who was a leukemia survivor.

At the end of the day I went to a viewing for a friend who cancer took too soon. Her daughter was looking at pictures of her family on a video with her principal standing beside her.

We MUST contribute, work, advocate and do all we can to support families affected by cancer and prevent others from EVER HAVING THIS EXPERIENCE!

Please, in 2024, pick a cause and support it.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the Prayer Warriors in my life! Dad was only supposed to have an extra lead added to his pacemaker today, but the doctor opted to give him a new one altogether. He’s home -tired- but doing pretty well. Again, I know how blessed we are with those who have been on his treatment team and watching over him and Mom. I am lifting all of you up. Please know your act of mercy has made such a positive impact in our lives and we are truly thankful for your prayers!

Thank you to everyone who stopped in and/or gave support to this week’s fundraiser. As shared, this is the kick-off to the second half of the Campaign to Elect Petrella as Judge for Domestic Relations Court. Jennifer is planning to connect with even more community members to discuss the importance of good Judges in the Court system as well as her passion for public service. We look forward to seeing you soon!

04/22/2024

Big week ahead! I’m getting ready to head back on the campaign trail.

I’m completely honored to be certified as the only candidate in my race for the Montgomery County Domestic Relations Court Judge.

However, I also recognize that there are so many voters who don’t know the candidates running for local offices like the judiciary, who may be deciding civil, criminal or family issues. We candidates have a responsibility to meet those we serve, just as voters should be prepared when going to the polls.

Come join us this Wednesday for a fundraiser as we prepare to make a connection with the community over this coming summer and fall!

In the mail today….my Certification of Nomination! THANK YOU MONTGOMERY COUNTY VOTERS!!

If you were unaware, April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. Those that work with young people are likely to have mandatory reporting training this month. Many others will see the blue and silver pinwheeels blowing on these gusty days in front of police stations, government buildings and shelters.

Please do not leave reporting up to those who are required to sound the alarm. IF YOU SUSPECT A CHILD IS IN DANGER, REPORT IT! Remember, all of our communities have help for families: from food insecurity, to help with utilities, to stopping the violence. Be part of the solution today, so that we can all have a brighter future!

I prayed and prayed for good weather and we were blessed! I’m so happy that I got to witness this phenomenon, but LOVED the neighborhood cheering and seeing families enjoying this together. 4 minutes of awe, wonder and joy. Now that’s a way to start a week!

Pics were from 3:10-3:12pm; love the solar light in the back yard!

CONGRATULATIONS Missy Mae Walters on a successful inaugural season of the League of Junior Cotillions Miami Valley Chapter! I am not only honored to be a Board Member of Ohio’s only Chapter, but was filled with gratitude that I was able to speak to students and family members at last evening’s Grand Spring Ball. They have dedicated many hours on their lessons, leading to a lovely evening spent with these young ladies and gentlemen. What a treasure for our community!

PETRELLA- PREPARED TO CONTINUE PUBLIC SERVICE AT THE NEXT LEVEL: DOMESTIC RELATIONS COURT JUDGE.

At the end of my four years of college, my father, a steelworker, and my mother, a teacher, felt they had given me what academic advice they could but didn’t know what to advise as far as law school. A professor, at Wheeling Jesuit College and my mentor as a prospective law school student, said to the three of us in a conversation, “The law is the law.” He acknowledged that job opportunities would be different depending on which of my offers I accepted. I proudly chose the University of Dayton School of Law.

I was fortunate. I worked throughout college, achieved much academically, and received some scholarships towards law school. As for the costs not covered, I paid off my student loans in their entirety, on my own. It took over 19 years, but it was a priority for me.

I do not consider myself entitled, and I did not come from privilege. People can easily approach me, and those I work beside can attest as to my strong work ethic. I recognize the importance of the calling I have, and rededicate myself to the community I serve every single day.

I have seen and felt the hurt of extended family and friends going through divorces. I know how divorce impacts children and have felt compassion and empathy for these families, along with individuals who come to my court seeking safety. You don’t have to be married or a parent to have these attributes; just be a decent person who truly cares.

I am a Magistrate who administers the law fairly and equitably. I am also the only candidate who is a top-level Administrator responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Court. I have the Judges’ full confidence in performing my duties in both roles, and the personal dedication to carry this experience forward day one as Judge in the Domestic Relations Court.

Please remember to vote for the most qualified candidate:

03/16/2024

Recently, I was asked to discuss my leadership style. I have been in leadership positions and managing staff for over 23 years, but my style has never changed. Know the duties of the job thoroughly. Know your staff well enough to lean into their strengths, making your team excellent. And when times get tough, it’s all boots on the ground. A good leader expects nothing more from others, than she is willing to give.

Experience matters. I have been called upon in times of emergency, to cover the Judges’ dockets, and have stepped out without concern or hesitation. During the pandemic, while the staff was split into three shifts for coverage, I was in the office every single day, communicating protocol, and assuring safety of all staff and participants. The Judges have full confidence in my abilities in the courtroom, as well as the daily operations of the court. Colleagues past and present endorse me to be the next Judge.

I will continue to bring this dedication, this unique and unmatched experience to my next role in public service, Domestic Relations Court Judge.

VOTE PETRELLA IN THE PRIMARY!

CALLED TO SERVE.

I arrived in the Miami Valley in 1995 to attend the University of Dayton School of Law. Within a couple months, I was volunteering as a flutist at a local church for mass. I was hired at Juvenile Court early 1997, and later that year, I earned my certification as a Mediator and began volunteering with the City of Dayton.

Over the years, I have volunteered for fair housing, providing utility asssistance and feeding the poor, connecting families to community resources, safe and secure neighborhoods, strong school resources and healthy relationships. Everything I have dedicated time to has been a calling to serve my community, my home.

Running for the position of MONTGOMERY COUNTY DOMESTIC RELATIONS JUDGE is a calling, too. I have been honored by community-wide support, including the encouragement of the Judges, former colleagues, and so many staff, community members, friends and family.

Thank you, and remember to make your support heard at the polls! Go VOTE PETRELLA IN THE PRIMARY!!

03/16/2024

Do you remember the Army’s slogan a few years back, “We do more before 9am, than most people do all day.” Well, here at Elect Petrella HQ, we can relate!

No one is parachuting, but the campaign has been in full force before and after work, and every weekend for months. Thank you to all the volunteers who have spent countless hours beside me connecting with the community, staging and replacing signs, as well as getting important information and literature in the hands of voters. YOU ARE AWESOME! Let’s make these next few days our best yet! And as always…
VOTE PETRELLA IN THE PRIMARY!!

So thankful for the time change-that’s given us an extra hour for walking all this week and on this final weekend before the primary! Thank you to all those neighbors meeting us at the door and giving us great support!
