What I would suggest is to get a 400 square-foot pallet of sod from a contract farm, and split it with your neighbor or put a free sign out by the road for free sod what you have left. Plugging is probably not the answer In most cases. A pallet of sod is $250 a neighbor can always use some of it if you want to give it to them.
