We lost an old friend and classmate, Ronnie Weaver on September 28. Ronnie passed peacefully under hospice care. When we know about final arrangements we will share this information.
Hi 66rs. Our old friends met for a mid summer lunch at the River Grill. It was exciting to see long lost schoolmates Tillie Hoffmeister Parker an Jimmy Parker back on land after spending the past year sailing the Bahamas in their 47 Ft sailboat. Check out the photo…

The 66rs met at Greektown Taverna to raise a glass to our friend Harvey Newton, who recently passed away March 30. Joining our group we’re Harvey’s close ShS ‘68 friends Ron and Sue Morrison, Al Smith, Tim Brown and Tim’s friends.
And just as Harvey wanted, our gathering was full of laughter, stories of good times gone by and the comaraderie of his SHS mates.
Our good friend and SHS 66 leader, Harvey Newton died yesterday. Harvey fought prostate cancer with courage and dignity up until the end.
He led a full and successful life as a professional bicyclist and coach of the US Olympic weight lifting team.
Harvey continued a career in sports as an author of various weight lifting books, as an internationally known speaker and consultant in weight lifting. He was also a contributor to NBC for the past several Olympics.
Harvey loved following our ‘66 classmates and was a good friend to many Seabreeze schoolmates. He provided leadership to many of our class reunions. He had many friends in the weight lifting and sports industries.
Finally, Harvey was a Viet Nam veteran and was a proud Marine.
We will miss Harvey. Semper Fi good friend.
We had a blast today at “Beaches Entertainment Eatery”. Classmates Kathy Barton Tarrance and Kitten Baggett Thompson were in town visiting family and came out for a fun mini reunion. They looked great!
We had a blast today at Lulu’s with schoolmates from 1961 thru 1994. Carl and Susan Persis introduced Tucker Harris (SHS ‘94), the new SHS principal and Dr Carmen Balgobin, new Superintendent of Volusia County schools. Mr Harris had several comments about the future of our athletic programs, and the new $100,000 weight room facility. He invited us to come to the school to see all of the new exciting improvements that are being made and encouraged us to come to the homecoming game against Pine Ridge on October 14. Also, schoolmate Gene White ‘62 encouraged everyone to join 28 members of SHS ‘62 on Sept 30 for our game with Deltona.
We had a good turn out for our 3WOTM lunch at the new Smokehouse Barbecue and Pumphouse on W Granada in Ormond Beach. After chowing down on some great BBQ much of our group went next-door for ice cream treats. Those present included Bill and Maggie Sacks, Bill and Bonnie Thompson, Skip Dixon, Larry Frank, Suzanne Heddy, Lynda Hucks, Albert Teebagy, Carl Persis, and Christy Robbins.
And here is an advance notice to put September 21st on your calendar for our next 3WOTM lunch. We will gather at Lulus restaurant in Ormond Beach. Our special guest will be the new SHS Principal, Tucker Harris who will share his direction for our alma mater. BTW, Mr. Harris is one of us (a Seabreeze graduate). I can’t wait to hear what he has in store. GO CRABS!
We had a blast with Chuck Duva at his brand new “Beaches Entertainment Eatery”. The food was Excellent and the Disney Imagineers developed artwork and decor was even better. This place has it all for a dining and entertainment experience and should be put on everyone’s list for a visit. From the 16’x20’ television to the sculptures and modern artwork, Beaches is a both a feast for your appetite and a feast for your eyes. Here are the 66rs in the picture: Carl, Skip, Joan, Linda and Greg, Helen, Bill and Bonnie, Bill Sacks, HarveyAnd Christy.
Hi 66rs, this Wednesday, May 18, we’re going to be meeting for lunch at Beaches entertainment Eatery. It’s Chuck Duva‘s new place at 11:45 301 E. ISB. A number of us are looking forward to gathering there and checking out Chuck’s new restaurant, club/bar, package store and car wash. Everything we’ve heard has been terrific. We wouldn’t expect anything less from Chuck. If any of you can come and you haven’t already let me know you’ll be there, Please text me at area code 904-307-4316. It’s going to be a blast.

The 66rs Had a full day of fun & frolic in Astor. Thanks to Ryan we went on a 2 1/2 hour St. John’s River boat tour and laughed and giggled to the information provided us by the knowledgeable and entertaining Captain Bob. Afterward we enjoyed a late lunch at Drifters, a popular Astor restaurant. What a fun day!

Bob Adams, husband of our own Ryan Anderson Adams passed away Tuesday morning. Locally, Bob was known for his leader ship in the growth of Adams Cameron Realty. We knew Bob for his family friendly, enjoyable sense of humor as a regular attendee with Ryan at our ‘66’ functions. We pass along our prayers to Ryan and their family during this difficult time.
We have learned that Bob Adams passed away this past Tuesday morning. Bob was married to our own Ryan Anderson Adams. He’ll be recognized locally for the leadership behind the growth of Adams Cameron Realty here in the Halifax area. But we’ll know Bob for his family friendly, fun-loving sense of humor and as a regular attendee with Ryan at our ‘66’ functions. We pass along our prayers to Ryan, and her family. Bob was one in a million.
We’ll hold our holiday party at the Vintage wine cellar on W Granada on 12/22 at 6:00pm. Cost will be $40/person for assorted heavy hors d’oevres. Alcoholic beverages extra. Let Larry Frank know how many will be coming. [email protected]
The 66rs were at it again after another Covid time out. We had a blast, this time at the Kona Tiki bar on west Granada.
Keep checking in since we’re planning a Christmas dinner celebration. Larry Frank is scouting out a venue.
50th reunion
We’ve learned that teacher and friend of the Class of ‘66’ Mrs. Catherine N. (Nina) Masters passed away. Mrs. Masters taught us a love of the arts. Many of you will remember her presence at our 50th class reunion.
Check out this video of our new Principal at Seabreeze...Dr. Earl Johnson from the Meet and Greet we sponsored on the 21st. The Good days are ahead.
Last Wednesday the class of 66 sponsored a special event to introduce Dr. Earl Johnson to a gathering of more than 50 Sandcrab supportors. What a night it was! We should be optimistic about the future of our Alma Mater. The wine cellar at the Grind Gastropub was a great venue for our gathering. We thank them for waiving room fees.
Classmate Carl Persis set a tone of excitement that got the evening rolling. Larry Frank saw to it that we had some great hors dourves and the cash bar and social interaction made for great time. We had a local artist producing a live painting which was sold through a silent auction. Lynda and Danny Hucks won the bid with proceeds going to the Seabreeze Orchestra and Band Association. The resulting
Artwork was donated back to Seabreeze. SOBA also received pledges of more than $3000 from Michelle Carter (Vince Carter’s mom) and from Nancy and Lowell Lohman. What a great event! Check out the video of Earl Johnson’s comments.on the separate post.
