Mr. T (born Laurence Tureaud, May 21, 1952), is an American actor. He is known for his roles as B. A. Baracus in the 1980s television series The A-Team and as boxer Clubber Lang in the 1982 film Rocky III. He is also known for his distinctive hairstyle inspired by Mandinka warriors in West Africa, his copious gold jewelry, his tough-guy persona and his catchphrase "I pity the fool!", first uttered as Clubber Lang in Rocky III, then turned into a trademark used in slogans or titles, like the reality show I Pity the Fool in 2006.

Mr. T was born in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest son in a family with twelve children. After his father left, he shortened his name to Lawrence Tero. In 1970, he legally changed his last name to T. His new name, Mr. T., was based upon his childhood impressions regarding the lack of respect from white people for his family:

"I think about my father being called 'boy', my uncle being called 'boy', my brother, coming back from Vietnam and being called 'boy'. So I questioned myself: "What does a black man have to do before he's given respect as a man?" So when I was 18 years old, when I was old enough to fight and die for my country, old enough to drink, old enough to vote, I said I was old enough to be called a man. I self-ordained myself Mr. T, so the first word out of everybody's mouth is "Mr.""

Tureaud attended Dunbar Vocational High School, where he played football, wrestled, and studied martial arts. While at Dunbar he became the citywide wrestling champion two years in a row. He won a football scholarship to Prairie View A&M University, where he majored in mathematics, but was expelled after his first year.

He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1975 and served in the Military Police Corps. After his discharge in the late 1970s, he tried out for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League, but failed to make the team due to a knee injury.

Tureaud next worked as a bouncer at the Rush Street club Dingbats Discotheque. It was at this time that he created the persona of Mr. T. His wearing of gold neck chains and other jewelry was the result of customers losing the items or leaving them behind at the night club after a fight. A banned customer, or one reluctant to risk a confrontation by going back inside, could return to claim his property from Mr. T wearing it conspicuously right out front.

He eventually parlayed his job as a bouncer into a career as a bodyguard that lasted almost ten years. As his reputation grew, he was contracted to guard, among others, clothes designers, models, judges, politicians, athletes and millionaires. His clients included celebrities such as Steve McQueen, Michael Jackson, LeVar Burton, and Diana Ross, and boxers such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, and Leon Spinks.

While reading National Geographic, Mr. T first noticed the unusual hairstyle for which he is now famous, on a Mandinka warrior. He decided that adoption of the style would be a powerful statement about his African origin.

In 1980, Mr. T was spotted by Sylvester Stallone while taking part in NBC's "America's Toughest Bouncer" competition, a segment of NBC's Games People Play. Although his role in Rocky III was originally intended as just a few lines, Mr. T was eventually cast as Clubber Lang, the primary antagonist. His catchphrase "I pity the fool!" comes from the film; when asked if he hates Rocky, Lang replies, "No, I don't hate Balboa, but I pity the fool." He subsequently appeared in another boxing film, Penitentiary 2, and on an episode of the Canadian sketch comedy series Bizarre, where he fights and eats Super Dave Osborne, before accepting a television series role on The A-Team. He also appeared in an episode of Silver Spoons, reprising his old role as bodyguard to the character Ricky Stratton (played by Ricky Schroder). In the episode, he explains his name as "First name: Mister; middle name: period; last name T."

In The A-Team, he played Sergeant Bosco "B. A." Baracus, an ex-Army commando on the run with three other members from the United States government "for a crime they didn't commit." His role in The A-Team led to him making an appearance in the long-running sit-com Diff'rent Strokes in the sixth season opener "Mr. T and Mr. t" (1983).

Mr. T entered the world of professional wrestling in 1985. He was Hulk Hogan's tag-team partner at the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF) WrestleMania I which he won.

In 1995, he was diagnosed with a cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, or mycosis fungoides. Once in remission, he joked about the coincidence: "Can you imagine that? Cancer with my name on it — personalized cancer! " He wrote an as-yet unpublished book on this experience, called Cancer Saved My Life (Cancer Ain't For No Wimps). He made a direct reference to it as he performed a waltz to the song Amazing Grace in Dancing with the Stars.

He stopped wearing virtually all his gold, one of his identifying marks, after helping with the cleanup after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He said, "As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and lose their land and property ... I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold. I felt it would be insensitive and disrespectful to the people who lost everything, so I stopped wearing my gold."

On April 5, 2014, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Mr. T was inducted by Gene Okerlund into the WWE Hall of Fame's celebrity wing.

Happy Birthday to Lawrence "Kris" Parker (born August 20, 1965), better known by his stage names KRS-One ("Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone") and Teacha, is an American rapper from The Bronx. He rose to prominence as part of the hip hop group Boogie Down Productions, which he formed with DJ Scott La Rock in the mid-1980s. KRS-One is known for his songs "Sound of da Police", "Love's Gonna Get'cha (Material Love)", and "My Philosophy". Boogie Down Productions received numerous awards and critical acclaim in their early years. Following the release of the group's debut album, Criminal Minded, fellow artist Scott La Rock was shot and killed, but KRS-One continued the group, effectively as a solo project. He began releasing records under his own name in 1993. He is politically active, having started the Stop the Violence Movement after La Rock's death. He is also a vegan activist, expressed in songs such as "Beef". He is widely considered an influence on many hip-hop artists.
Lawrence Parker was born in the New York City borough of Brooklyn in 1965 to an American mother. His biological father, who was not involved in his upbringing, was from the Caribbean island of Barbados. He had a troubled childhood, suffering severe beatings from his American stepfather John Parker when the family lived in Harlem, New York. When his mother left the marriage both he and his younger brother Kenny moved with her to the Bronx, before again moving a year later to Brooklyn. Home life continued to be difficult, including further physical abuse at the hands of his mother's new Jamaican partner, and he ran away from home several times.

Sure!, Gerald Levert and others.

Williams appeared in the 1991 film New Jack City in the role of Kareem Akbar, one of Nino Brown's assistants. He also had a cameo appearance in the 1990s police drama New York Undercover as "the singer", performing "Stranger in My Life", in the episode titled "The Shooter". No other coach in NFL history has won more games (347) than Don Shula. In 1963, he was hired as the head coach of the Baltimore Colts. At the time, he was the youngest coach in the NFL at age 33. From 1963 to 1969, Shula compiled a record of 73-26-4 in Baltimore and led the Colts to Super Bowl III. But after an upset loss to the Jets, his relationship with then Colts owner Carroll Rosenbloom soured. When Dolphins owner Joe Robbie offered him the head coaching job in Miami, he immediately jumped at the opportunity.

Before he ever coached a game for the Dolphins, Shula was already respected in the coaching community. But his stint in Miami ultimately made him a football legend. He inherited a Dolphins team that was a struggling expansion franchise in the old AFL and turned them into an NFL juggernaut. The Dolphins went from 3-10-1 under then-head coach George Wilson in 1969 to a 10-4 playoff team under Shula in 1970. It ranks as one of the great turnarounds in NFL history. From 1971 to 1973, the Dolphins won three consecutive AFC titles, including back-to-back Super Bowl titles. The 1972 team remains the only undefeated team in NFL history. The Dolphins won 31 consecutive regular-season and postseason games at the Orange Bowl from 1971 to 1974.

But Shula's success is not just limited to the early 70s. His teams were remarkably consistent and disciplined. The Dolphins ranked consistently among the least penalized teams in the league. He added two more AFC titles in 1982 and 1984, giving him six total Super Bowl appearances. What separated Shula from his peers was his ability to adapt with the times. During the early 70s, the Dolphins were a power-running team with Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, and Mercury Morris. By the 1980s, they had one of the most prolific passing attacks with quarterback Dan Marino.

To put Shula's greatness into perspective, a coach averaging 12 wins per season would have to spend 29 years on the job to eclipse 347 career victories. Shula's coaching career (1963-1995) spanned over the administrations of eight different U.S. Presidents. He has coached against Paul Brown, Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, George Halas, John Madden, Hank Stram, Bud Grant, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs, Marv Levy, Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Cowher, Bill Belichick, and beaten them all at least once. Keep in mind, the NFL didn't go to a 16-game schedule until 1978, Shula's 16th year as a head coach. Shula also had two seasons (1982 and 1987) shortened by player strikes.

Don Shula passed away on May 4, 2020. He was 90 years old.

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign announced a ‘Vultures Listening Experience’ event in Taiwan late last month, but now it appears not to be happening.

Reports of the event, scheduled for Sunday (August 25), being canceled have appeared in the Taiwan Newsand Mirror Media, and have also been featured on the Ye fan account Ye Fanatics.

Mirror Media says: “[I]t was reported that the organizer informed the manufacturers that ‘the event is cancelled,’ but no official cancellation announcement has been made yet.”

Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) head honcho Terrence “Punch” Henderson revealed a “special” contribution he made to Kendrick Lamar‘s seminal 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly.

The label boss took to Instagram on Wednesday (August 21) to remember his involvement in the album’s closing track, the 12 minute “Mortal Man.”

At the end of the track, K.Dot refers to some words ” a good friend had wrote describing” his “world.” Punch revealed that those words were his.

Alongside an illustrated video of the note, Punch wrote: “We were coming close to the end of making ‘to pimp a butterfly’, we may have been about 70% done. I remember Kdot was feeling a bit lost in the concept, it happens sometimes when your in the thick of the battle, it’s easy to kind of lose sight of the original purpose as new ideas and thought enter in. He hit me and asked if I could write something to sum up the album and where we were going.

“So I thought about it and wrote some words and sent it to him. He said ‘thanks’ and we kept moving with business as usual. A few months later we were done, and we listened to the album for a final time right before release and I hear something new on the end of ‘mortal man’ that I hadn’t heard. Then I realized these were the words that I sent Dot months before! I had no idea he was using it for the album. Even when we played it back during the process he never played that section. This will always be a special moment for me, because of our connection and understanding and also being apart of that masterpiece in that way. [prayer hands emoji].”

Last we heard from Punch was back in April when he and TDE artist Reason offered some thoughts on a fan’s ranking of [most of] the Top Dawg Entertainment roster.

The list began circulating, which found the artists on the Los Angeles-based record label ranked as follows:

Dame Dash has taunted longtime rival JAY-Z ahead of the sale of his one-third ownership in Roc-A-Fella Records.

Speaking on Instagram Live on Tuesday (August 20), the embatttled mogul spoke about the upcoming auction and said he’s curious to find out just how “deep” the Brooklyn billionaire’s pockets really are given Hov has right of first refusal as the company’s co-founder.

“I don’t expect anyone, just some average person, to come buy it — or a third of it, my third. I don’t wanna get sued again,” he said. “I know, for some reason, nobody wants me to sell it, but I’m ready to just move on, do my thing.

“I had a lawsuit, I had a judgement, and I’m like, ‘Yo, that’s 800 grand. Go get it from over there. They not paying me neither!'” he added, referencing the $823,000 he owes movie producer Josh Weber who successfully sued him for copyright infringement and defamation over the 2016 film Dear Frank.

“So, they went and did the work for me [to] paid that debt and I’ll be able to sell it. It all worked out for me. I’m sure there’s a little twist they put on things. I don’t know why. I do know why, but I don’t know why. I don’t know why about one thing, but I do know why about the other.”

Dame then turned his attention to his former business partner, saying: “They had some bum-ass board meeting and all of a sudden he gets first right of refusal. I don’t really care. It don’t slow nothing down for me.

“Now I don’t know how deep homie’s pockets is. I’m curious if he’s gonna match that. I put an offer on the table, lemme see if he’ll match it. But it was from other people.”

The sale of Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella shares hasn’t helped mend any fences between him and JAY-Z.

Earlier this month, Hov made a legal filing alerting potential buyers that the copyright ownership of his debut album Reasonable Doubt reverts back to him in 2031, regardless of who owns the label at that point.

JAY-Z and fellow Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke also previously objected to the public auction, claiming it went against the company’s bylaws.

Dame’s shares will be auctioned off by the federal government on August 29 to satisfy his six-figure debt to Weber. The minimum bid cannot be less than $1.2 million in order to cover this amount and then some.

In recent days, Dash has attempted to up the ante by offering the winning bidder an original Roc-A-Fella chain — but only if they cough up more than $10 million for his shares.

Machine Gun Kelly has revealed the “heartbreaking” conversation he had with his daughter that led him to kick his drug habit.

Appearing on Gillie Da Kid and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, the rapper and singer recalled what his teenage daughter Casie said to him that inspired him to get sober.

“It started with my daughter saying, ‘Dad, you know I can tell when you’re high?’ It broke my heart. It was like… the ultimate letdown,” he said, adding that his daughter was just 11 or 12 years old at the time.

“It took me a while afterwards because obviously, you know, drugs have a vice grip on you. Also, I grew up in a house where being somebody else was beaten into me […] because you aren’t who your father wants you to be, and really that’s a reflection of him not being who he wanted to be.”

In recent weeks, the Bronx rapper has shown off a notably slimmer figure, leading to rumors that she has been taking the weight loss drug Ozempic.

will.i.am is launching a new radio service that will allow listeners to interact with AI-powered DJs and customize their entire listening experience.

Built under his tech company FYI and titled RAiDiO.FYI, the service will go beyond music and allow for conversations about news, sports, weather and more. People can already start listening for free with the FYI app on all smartphones.

Talking to Billboard about the new venture, will said: “The request line has always been always been awesome for radio with when the callers get to call in and talk to the DJ or talk to the guests, but they’re limited to one person at a time. And then after the broadcast you couldn’t talk the host.”
