It’s been a busy summer and I’m realizing I haven’t introduced the new very special member of the Run a Mutt crew! Meet Rex! Rex will be living with me until he is around 1.5 years old. I’m raising him for Guiding Eyes for the Blind and he will hopefully be a guide dog! He’s such a joy to have around, and has added a lot of love and a little bit of chaos to my life💙

This week we had to say goodbye to Max. Max wasn’t one of those dogs that loved ever person he met, in fact, Max didn’t like that many people at all. But those people that he did chose to love, he loved with his whole heart. I was so lucky to be chosen as one of those people. Many days when I went to pick up Max for his walk he would jump up on my leg and give me a “hug.” If I had the chance to sit with him, he would crawl into my lap and paw at my hand if I dared to stop petting him for an instant. I could hear his “howl” as soon as I stepped out of my car sounding the alarm for his excitement about our walks. He absolutely loved our walks and would pull me around to make sure he sniffed all the good stuff. He may not have had the greatest start in life as he was found abandoned in a home, but he lived out the last 10 years of his life with a family that loved him so much. Max made me smile, made me laugh, and made my days a bit brighter when I was around him. He will be missed dearly💙

Addy was a ray of sunshine. This girl was always ready and excited for our walks no matter what. She was a nut (in the best possible way) and constantly had me laughing. From her ritual of making sure there were no crumbs left uneaten on the floor to her affinity for rolling in snow piles, leaf piles, you name it, she always put a smile on my face. We used to joke that she brought on the rain because we used to get stuck in the rain on our walks so often, but really, she always was the sunshine. Over 11 years of walks together, and that still wasn’t enough. Rest peacefully sweet Addy, I hope you’re rolling in the biggest pile of leaves possible.❤️

Yesterday we said goodbye to a gem of a dog. To be honest, when Lucy first met me she didn’t really like me. And maybe the fact that I had to form that bond with her made it all the more special. She was such a special dog and we loved our walks together over the past 9 years. Lucy loved rolling in the grass, stealing kisses when she could, her brother Grover and her wonderful owners. She always announced my arrival with some barks but we all knew it was a show, as she would wag her tail and be so happy to head out for our walks. She had soulful eyes and would often “check in” during our walks as if to say “hi, I’m happy we’re together.”

I will miss her dearly and always treasure our time together. Run free sweet girl❤️
