Happy birthday, sweet angel baby Jameson. Today, we should have celebrated your 15th birthday, and it's hard to fathom how quickly time has passed. Although you're not physically with us, I believe that your spirit is shining brightly in the heavens above. I trust that you're watching over all of us, especially your brothers, protecting them and filling their lives with a special kind of love that only you can provide. Your absence is deeply felt, but knowing that you're smiling down upon us gives us strength and comfort. We cherish the beautiful memories we have of you and hold you close in our hearts, now and forever. Happy heavenly birthday, dear baby girl.

As an ADHDer myself and ASD/ADHD mum, I would like to share my exciting research from the field of neuroscience with you. Recent studies have revealed that the process of creating a new synapse in the brain typically requires approximately 400 repetitions. However, this process can be significantly accelerated when approached in a playful manner, requiring only 10 to 20 repetitions.
As an expert in ADHD, I can help you develop effective and engaging strategies to optimize your cognitive function and facilitate neuroplasticity. By incorporating playful and enjoyable activities into your daily routine, we can help you rewire your brain more efficiently and effectively. Let's work together to unlock your full potential!
In the United States, public schools have the authority to identify attention-related concerns, but are not authorized to render an official diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as it is classified as a medical condition. Nevertheless, pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), schools are required to evaluate students for potential learning impairments, which may include ADHD. In the event that such impediments are identified and pose a hindrance to a student's educational progress, the school is obligated to provide appropriate accommodations.

It is of utmost importance to give children the patience and understanding they need to thrive. Children need to know that they are respected and seen. We, as parents, must model patience and understanding, avoiding knee-jerk reactions and letting our children know that we are on their side.
Giving children patient understanding also means being compassionate, listening without judgement and finding positive solutions to problems. Acknowledge your child’s emotions, use words like “I hear you…” or “I understand how you’re feeling…” rather than “No, you can’t do that…” or “stop, that’s wrong…” Whenever possible, it is important to create a safe space for your kids to express themselves, so that your child feel comfortable sharing even the toughest of emotions.
Finally, it is important to offer children your love and unwavering support, even during moments of difficulty. Let them know that failures, big and small, are often a natural and necessary part of life, and with your help they can work through anything. But, also let it be known that no matter what, they have your support and that they can always rely on you.

ADHDers have a higher rate of food allergies and food intolerance than people who do not have ADHD.
Do you know which food sensitivity is most frequently connected with ADHD? Gluten.
In fact, some researchers believe 70-80 percent of ADDers have a gluten sensitivity. Gluten sensitivity affects the frontal and pre-frontal lobe of the brain, which is where our executive functions are housed (short term memory, planning, etc.) We know that the executive functions are impaired when you have ADHD; so by cutting out gluten, you can improve that functioning. If you suspect a food sensitivity may be contributing to your child's ADHD symptoms, talk to your ADHD dietitian or doctor about testing for gluten sensitivity.

In addition to making autistic children's educational experience more positive and beneficial, engaging them fully in their learning also paves the way for their full potential in the future.
It is imperative that BVSD, and other similar school districts nation-wide, focus on assisting teachers in becoming more confident about their capability to support students who are on the Autism Spectrum.
In order to promote true inclusion rather than merely integration, teachers need to receive trauma-informed, human-centered Autism in education training. The beautiful neurodivergent minds out there have a lot to share and teach us.
We need to be better listeners.
ADHD tends to run in families and, in most cases, it's thought the genes you inherit from your parents are a significant factor in developing the condition. Research shows that parents and siblings of someone with ADHD are more likely to have ADHD themselves.
