Sustainable Urgency.
Reshaping relationship with time and pace.

I am equally excited about this course. I have been working on this idea/course since 2016 and continues to be just as relevant.

This is a 5 week virtual course for anyone that is interested in a space that dives deep into the acknowledgment that these are chaotic times and we have to find ways to not just react but engage in ways that are long lasting. This course will guide individuals to find their own practice, define your own sense or urgency and sustainable. We will develop individual practices, and have opportunities to take community action.

All info in link in bio. We have sliding scale options, free spots for QTBIPOC folks, and single parents. If none of these feel accessible reach and we will figure it out.

8 spots available. Groups start nov 29th to support through the holiday season and new year.
🫧
Look forward to sharing space with you this fall.

Counterclockwise.

This is a virtual group. We have two cohorts that will meet weekly over the course of 8 sessions.

This is our first round of this group so there will be space for feedback and opportunities to be involved in future projects.

This group is for any q***r identified person looking to learn more about trauma, healing and rewriting your story.

All group info in link in bio! We have sliding scale options, payment plans and free spots for QTBIPOC folks and single parents.

My why for this group is that I want to create spaces for not just processing our trauma but spaces to heal and see what is beyond the stories we are told and tell ourselves about our q***rness. We deserve it all and more and I hope that sharing space in community can be the start of something wonderful.

FIELD
It is our second BDAY🎉 and I wanted to take a moment to give some context to the name of my business, FIELD.
FIELD is first my last name

Field originates from Finkelstein, which was my grandfather’s last name. He immigrated to New York City from Russia as a baby with his parents around 1915. They left Russia and sought refuge in the United States escaping the persecution facing Jews at that time. His father escaped first seeking asylum in Texas as a Jew with the intention to get a job, save money, and be able to pay for his family to leave Russia as they were at risk from being persecuted as Jews. He went back to Russia and then returned again to NYC. My grandfather grew up in NYC and tried for years to get a job. He faced such intense antisemitism that no one would hire him.He decided to change his name to Field in an act of assimilation, erasure, fear with the hopes that his family would have a greater chance at success than generations before. He never spoke of his Jewish roots which contributed to a long history of intergenerational grief and anxiety. I learned of this story a few years ago as my family history is mostly lost unless told through oral history. I hold this story close to my heart and as a root of my business ethos, because it highlights a few of my values as a business owner:

▫️we all deserve a place to be and feel at home in our own skin.

▫️We are all a collection of intergenerational trauma and when we make space to heal, we do the work for ourselves, the generations before and after us.

▫️We have to know our own stories and do our own personal work first and always.

I am honored every day to get to do the work I do. I am so grateful to each of you for your continued support.

As Pride month wraps up we are still here and Q***r.
As a q***r therapist and consultant it’s important to unpack this word as it informs all of my work.
Q***r to me is…
🌟
Q***r means to me my identity, my family, my community and the guiding lens for the way in which i do all of my work.

A dear collegue, Rae Johnson has informed my view of Q***rness and framed the idea that -Q***r is not just who I am but what i do.

It becomes a thread through all of my work.

For me being q***r is an act of love, joy, grief, and sometimes unexplainable, undefinable pain.

Q***r is tentative and always changing. And sometimes there are no words.

What does Q***r mean to you? Tag us🌟

Pride means to me ____
June is Pride month. Pride originated on June 28th 1969 with the stonewall riots.
✨Since then Pride month has taken many forms. As a fellow q***r person I know that this month is one to celebrate and a strong reminder that we can’t do our activism or our celebration just in June we have to do it every day. For me Pride means my chosen family, my visibility, my safety and my joy. Pride to me is also a reminder of all the work we have done and all the work ahead.

💫My invitation to you is… to answer for yourself what does Pride mean to you? I will be collecting replies to this question and one other and then I will share back anonymously in my July newsletter.

Redefining Blk Motherhood & the Concept of Village

This workshop is centered around parenting compassionately and with grace, especially while in a pandemic. Affirming our current and younger selves, while also leaving room for nuance

identifies as a black, non-binary femme and is also a new parent. They have always had a keen interest and passion for holistic living. They’ve recently started a blog, Honeydew Mama, centered around clean beauty, spirituality, and motherhood. They believe that they have found a good balance in allowing them to work in tandem with one another. The connection to mind, body and spirit is a relationship that they acquired while growing up here in the South. They have a podcast called Cuntry AF centered around the Southern Q***r experience, hosted by them alongside their best friend Dasia.
Honeydew Mama is a representation of parenthood and passion. It is a labor of love. R. Michelle wanted to take a step back from the institutional atmosphere of modern influencing and take it back old school with a blog, “v Y2K :)” In 2017, they spoke at the Arkansas Reproductive Justice Rally about the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses. Reproductive Justice is something they’ve been passionate about since the age of 17, having attended many conferences including Planned Parenthood’s Take Action Conference for youth. Currently, they are working with a couple of non-profits centered around femme youth and lending mentorship to those in need.

Mental Health is also an important topic for R. Michelle as they have Bipolar Disorder and BPD, two very stigmatized mental illnesses generally, but also within the black community. They’re goal is to shed light on the nuances of what wellness is and looks like in its many facets.

Being a mommy is a thankless job and they are both excited and anxious for the challenge. However, they also want to ensure that they maintain a sense of self; while knowing that finding that balance is a journey within itself. With all the obstacles they may face, their motto is to parent and live not with the intention to strive for perfection. It is to live and love with compassion and grace.

2/18 Our stories: the power of Q***r counternarratives
⭐️
Q***r speaker series with and .sec.tions

Join us for this amazing event✨

This workshop is designed to examine the ways in which various forms of artistic expression, in this case zine-making, is used to create the necessary space to explore and express the multidimensionality that exists within all of us, with particular focus on those of us existing at the intersection of multiple oppressions. During our time together, we will discuss the politicization of our q***r identities. In addition, we will explore how Black q***r women used zine-making as a tool to challenge dominant, single story narratives. Specifically, I will highlight examples from my zine, Intersections, to demonstrate how counternarratives serve as radical acts of resistance as we carve out spaces to simply be. Using the “Where I’m From'' poem format, the audience will have the opportunity to create a mini zine that depicts them, their identities, and the counter story they would like to share about their identities. The goal of the workshop is to highlight the importance of creating identity affirming spaces that embrace intersectionality while centering the voices that are often silenced by/within oppressive systems✨
bio:

Olivia Hunte (she/her) is a passionate individual who believes in the transformative powers of storytelling. Understanding the dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression, Olivia takes an anti-oppressive approach to her professional practice. Thus, in her work, she strives to build identity affirming spaces centering the voices of those placed on the margins of society. In her personal life, Olivia prioritizes individual and communal healing. As a social worker based in Denver, she enjoys facilitating the learning of others, building relationships, tending to her houseplants, and carving out time for creative expression through her zine, Intersections.

👋
I wanted to officially introduce myself
▫️
For those new to me my name is Sam Field (she/her). Some of you know me as smash and I embrace both

I am a q***r, white, Jewish woman. I currently live on Arapahoe, Ute, Cheyenne territory (Denver,Co). All of these identities have informed how I move thru the world and this work.

Field Therapy + Consulting has been the product of years of work and dreaming and I am grateful that I get to be engaged in something every day that feels reciprocal and always changing. I am a community organizer / music manager/ event planner turned trauma and wilderness and addiction therapist, though I am all of those roles most of the time i have found that being my own business owner allows space for all of my parts. I became a therapist to work with q***r identified folx and support healing and the space that comes after healing. I believe in self exploration combined with a deep understanding of intergenerational trauma. I am co-creating a curriculum specific to what I call q***r trauma, as a place and a space for healing, stay tuned for this

I am growing the consulting side of my work because I am leaning into the belief that there is no amount of individual therapy to heal some of the intersectional, institutional harm that happens daily and I believe in unlearning and the need to change our systems to decrease the trauma that is the world we exist in.
🌟
So thank you for your support and I look forward to all that is to come this year and beyond💜

Ps lots of credit to and their design magic.
