Ellen Denuto: Commercial Photographer, Visual Artist, and Dedicated Teacher Ellen Denuto has built a career by balancing the visual art and the commercial worlds of photography. This week at Hallmark Institute of Photography, Ellen will be teaching students how to photograph the human form and manipulate light.

Through their photographic images, the participating artists Pauline Chernichaw, Ellen Denuto, Alice Jacob, Masayo Nishimura, Trix Rosen and Heidi Sussman, question and challenge society’s conventional perception of individual identity amid overlooked, temporary public and private surroundings.

The title “Out-and-Out” for The January 2015 group exhibition at the Ceres Gallery is to bring to light poignantly touching and emotional scenes of lives observed in both public spaces and discrete, intimate settings.

The photographer Steve McLaren once said that “A good street photograph should tease, puzzle, reveal, stun, provoke and thrill in equal measure. Life isn’t easily interpreted and neither should photographs which are derived from it”.

The exhibition, “OUT-and-OUT”, brings together 6 contemporary women artists working in photography today. The opening reception is January 8th from 6-8 p.m the CERES Gallery 547 West 27th Street, Suite 201 between 10 and 11th.Promo Ceres Show
