Buffalo Trace Distillery unveils Weller Millennium: an ultra-aged innovation comprising a blend of vintage straight wheated bourbon and wheat whiskeys distilled near the turn of the millennium and matured at Buffalo Trace Distillery.

“A blend of vintage straight bourbon and wheat whiskeys distilled in 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006, Weller Millennium highlights the impact that wheat has on the whiskey’s flavor: the softness imparted by the wheat creates a smoother, sweeter, more approachable expression. By marrying these exceptional spirits together, the whiskeys further harmonize with each other, creating a cohesive, balanced final product that is greater than the sum of its parts.

On the nose, Weller M boasts rich caramel and toffee notes, indicating prolonged interaction with oak barrels that lead into an oak woodiness, with layers of depth and complexity from years of maturation. Subtle but distinct hints of dried fruits, such as figs or raisins, and a touch of stone fruit can be found lingering throughout. Sweet notes of caramel persist on the palate finishing with a prominent oak influence, imparting a subtle dryness and a lingering sense of refinement.

In a presentation befitting the liquid inside, Weller Millennium is held in a 750ml handcrafted crystal decanter with a custom-made crystal topper hand-etched with W.L. Weller’s original “W” stamp of quality. An illuminated display envelopes the 99-proof bottling with exactly 99 bursts while sharing the percentages of each vintage spirit inside the bottle.

Weller Millenium will be released in limited quantities through United States and global distributor networks, which will ship to retailers, bars and restaurants as of June 2024 at a suggested retail price of $7,500 (750ml); taxes will vary by market. It joins the Weller portfolio including Weller Special Reserve, Weller Antique 107, Weller 12-Year-Old, Weller Full Proof, Weller C.Y.P.B. (“Craft Your Perfect Bourbon”) and Weller Single Barrel; Daniel Weller Emmer Wheat, from its experimental line; and William Larue Weller, which is released each fall as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.”

The heavy-metal veterans, together with Blackened’s master distiller Rob Dietrich, have unveiled a new limited edition called Rye the Lightning. If the name strikes you as somewhat familiar, that’s because the rye whiskey was inspired by the band’s acclaimed sophomore album Ride the Lightning.

The expression, which is made up of Kentucky straight ryes aged between five and eight years, was double finished in Madeira wine and Caribbean rum casks for a period of two to 14 weeks each. As with the other whiskeys in the Blackened line, the rye also underwent the proprietary Black Noise sonic-enhancement process. In other words, it was blasted with the aforementioned six-times-platinum album while sitting in the finishing barrels.

Here is how we will be handling our “opportunity to purchase event” this year and details on how to sign up for your chance to purchase a bottle of allocated products we only receive a few times/few bottles of throughout the year!

- Ticket distribution starts Monday Feb 12th at 10am and continues until Saturday Feb 17th at 3pm sharp!

You must pick up a ticket in person at our store; no phone or message entries. Each person to enter must be present to get a ticket & sign up. No getting a ticket and signing up yourself and your wife, husband, neighbors kid and so on, if they want into the drawing they must come in and sign up on their own.

- *proof of age required at our decretion, must be 21 years of age to enter.
- No purchase necessary, never, nada…but we encourage shopping while you are in the store 😉
- Only one entry per person (list of names and phone numbers will be put into a spreadsheet to ensure that there is only one entry per name/number before the drawing in order to keep it fair for everyone)
- List of bottles, quantities and prices will be posted in store, on both FB pages and on our web site by Monday 2/12/24.
- NEW this year, once your ticket is chosen it WILL NOT BE RETURNED INTO THE MIX - simply put one and done. Feedback from past years has been that this will allow more people the opportunity and we all want more people to have the opportunity right?!

2023 “Blackened Whiskey” Metallica Collaboration with Rabbit Hole’s Kaveh Zamanian. Recently BLACKENED Whiskey announces a groundbreaking collaboration with Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame Whiskey Maker, Kaveh Zamanian, founder of renowned craft whiskey distillery, Rabbit Hole, for the 2023 release of its acclaimed “Masters of Whiskey Series.”

Together, BLACKENED Master Distiller & Blender, Rob Dietrich, and Zamanian have created the BLACKENED x Rabbit Hole Blend of Straight Bourbon Whiskey Distilled in Tennessee & Kentucky. Finished in Calvados Casks, the blend is bottled at cask strength at a proof of 106.59, and non-chill filtered.

For this release, esteemed whiskey visionaries, Dietrich and Zamanian, crafted the expression from a base of 13-year-old straight Tennessee bourbon whiskey featuring a mash bill of 64 percent corn, 36 percent rye, and Rabbit Hole Heigold High Rye Double Malt Kentucky straight bourbon, made from a mash bill of 70 percent corn, 25 percent malted rye, and 5 percent malted barley. The whiskey is then finished in Calvados Casks, imparting sweeter notes as Calvados is an apple brandy. The resulting expression (brand provided) features notes of apple butter, rhubarb, honey-suckle, graham cracker, and macadamia nut on the nose and hints of ripe pear, cinnamon stick, smoky campfire, field clover, honey, and black walnut on the palate.

The basis of the partnership stems from both brands’ and distillers’ uncompromising passion, reputation for forging their own paths in American Whiskey, and most importantly, their ability to innovate. For its whiskeys, Rabbit Hole’s Chief Whiskey Maker, Kaveh Zamanian, looks beyond traditional methods, creating one-of-a-kind mash bills using malt sourced from Europe, while BLACKENED Whiskey pushes the envelope with its Black Noise™ sonic-enhancement process.

As a testament to the collaboration and taste, the expression was entered into the 2023 New York Wine & Spirits Competition (NYWSC), where it was awarded a Gold Medal. An untraditional and unprecedented approach where some of the world’s most discerning palates selected the final five barrels of Frank August’s first ever Single Barrel release. So, I tasted Bottled in Bond at yesterday and listened to blending strategy and how he is liking the rye bourbons more than wheated for batching. Ian and have become incredibly talented blenders, and that bottled in bond is a Top 100 contender. I love how much passion they put into bourbon; frankly, I wish some larger brands would follow their example instead of chasing fads
