This!!!! How many people can relate?
Wine is Not Self-Care: A Wife's Perspective on Alcoholism Self-care will never be found in a glass, and calm doesn't come in a can. It only happens by filling up my spirit. My body becomes incredibly balanced when my physical, emotionally, and spiritual needs are met and nourished, not depleted.
There are two trees. One is healthy; the other is not. The strong one lives in the sunlight, gaining energy. The weak one lives in the dark, barely getting any sunlight. What light shines on you to fuel your growth?
As a loved one of an addict we sometimes are so busy at keeping the peace and status quo we miss certain red flags. It doesn’t matter if they are high or drunk abuse is still abuse. If you need someone to talk to, Citrine Moon Recovery is here for you offering one on one support sessions and also support groups.
We have all be told so many times that we are all walking our own path and that it weaves and winds and crosses with others. Sometimes it forks and we have huge choices to make that alter not only ourself but others. Sometimes we share it with someone or someones before they decide to speed up- or maybe you do. Or maybe they will walk it with you for the next 50 years. Sometimes it’s storming and that other person had an umbrella and you don’t. And sometimes they share and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes you stumble and catch your self and sometimes you just down right fall. Face plant right down into the path of your journey. Sometimes there maybe someone to help you up but sometimes you gotta get yourself up, brush off your knees and keep going. And that’s the most important part- you keep going. You keep moving forward. And you immerse yourself in the process. In the places. In the people. In the experiences. Be grateful for those places and people and experiences because they weren’t accidental. And you will grow and you will learn and you will do and be better. And here is my hope- my intention for you- that you walk your path head held high with happiness and love radiating from you. And you realize that none of the paths that any of us are on will take you to happiness and love because happiness and love IS the path and IS in you..... will you chose to share it?

If you feel like giving up, read this:
1. This is a Phase.
Tough times are just a phase. They don't last forever. Life is a cycle of highs and lows. Remember, this too shall pass. You're in the middle of the storm now, but clear skies are ahead. Hold on.
2. You Are Stronger Than You Think.
Never underestimate your resilience.
- You've survived 100% of your bad days.
- Inside you, there is an inner strength.
- Your potential is greater than any problem.
Remember, you're stronger and more capable than you believe.
3. Small Steps Count.
Progress isn't always a leap forward. Sometimes it's tiny, almost imperceptible steps. Each step, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goal. Celebrate every bit of progress. Slow and steady can still win the race. Keep moving forward.
4. Remember Your 'Why'.
Think back to the reasons why you started. Reconnect with your motivation and your goals.
5. Failure is a Stepping Stone.
It's okay to fall but it's important to rise again. Every setback brings learning opportunities. Remember, every great success story involves overcoming obstacles. Keep going. Your story is being written.
6. Practice Self-Care.
Self-care is essential, especially during tough times.
- Eat nutritious food
- Exercise regularly
- Get adequate sleep
- Connect with loved ones
- Engage in activities that bring joy.
It’s not selfish, it's survival. Your well-being matters.
7. It's Okay to Ask for Help.
Remember, you're not alone in this journey.
- Reach out to friends, family, or professionals
- Open up about your struggles
- Seek support when you need it
Strength isn't just about enduring in silence. It's also knowing when to ask for help.
To my friends and readers, Fight for yourself. No matter how difficult it becomes, never let yourself give in. After some time, your spark will eventually return. You will come out happier, healthier, and wiser. We are in this together.
Relapse is ok!! Doesn’t mean to give up. The only person that is in your way is you! And I have faith in your and your potential 🖤
So funny thing. I knew years and years ago that I was going to open a mental health treatment center. It’s always been my dream and I have also known for years it was going to be called Citrine Moon. What I didn’t know was the trajectory of how the Universe wanted this to go.
I was very sheltered from the world of addiction growing up. And honestly it wasn’t until certain people came into my life where I started to learn about it. But even then, they were years into recovery. It wasn’t until I met Jason in 2014 that I knew what active addiction was. Despite his addiction, that amazing man was my bestest friend and my children’s “uncle”. I am so grateful for all the time I had with him, to be honored with him being my “man of honor”, have his art on my skin and partake in all the amazing talks we shared talking of the deepest things. We were connected cosmically and it was the first time and only time I felt this connection to someone in not a romantic way.
But although we shared some laughs, I saw him at his lowest. I saw him steal, in and out of jail, nod out, lose weight, lie to those he cared most about, be homeless, get into fights… but the worst was seeing him detox. To love someone so much and to see how a chemical has such a grip on them and there’s nothing that you can do to help them is the worst feeling ever. Completely helpless. He always said he didn’t belong here. He didn’t. He was too empathetic and loving and creative for this world. So I just waited- as much as I didn’t want the day to EVER come- Waiting for the inevitable call that he didn’t make it…. That call came May 6, 2019 - just 4 days after his birthday. And even though I knew it was coming sooner or later- I couldn’t breathe, my world came crashing down and I didn’t know how to live without him.
Then 9 months after his death, I truly believe he led me to the only other true cosmic connection I have felt- my home- someone else way too loving and empathetic and creative for this world- another I cannot live without- my heart and my home, my forever soulmate-Greg. And if you know me, you know the trials and tribulations we have been given and surpassed over the past 3 years and 7 months.
Yet ,through Jay and through Greg, 2 of the most important men in my life, I have found myself and my purpose and that is in the world of addiction. Just as much as I have helped and supported them, they have taught and supported me. I have since dived into the world of addiction and have learned so much in and out of the classroom and work place. I now know the world of addiction services is where I am supposed to lend my hand and continue to thrive in making a difference.
So what was originally Citrine Moon Wellness will now be Citrine Moon Recovery in memory of Jason Koch (5.2.76-5.6.19).
Hopefully as this page and my organization grow, I can assist you and your loved ones in your struggle to sobriety and recovery and show you the love and support that I was shown along my journey. 🖤🖤
