Hispanic Educational Resources, Inc.
Our vision is to be leaders in Central Iowa regarding Latino success in learning and achievement.
We recently upgraded our heating and cooling system at Conmigo Early Education Center. The project wad made possible by a generous grant award from Polk County Iowa.
We are very grateful for the support, thank you!
Polk County Supervisor Matt McCoy presented a community development grant on behalf of the Board of Supervisors to the Des Moines Hispanic Educational Resources, Inc.. The funds will be used for necessary mechanical upgrades at their downtown facility. The facility is dedicated to providing early childhood education for the Latino community.

She joined this month!
Meet Lisa, one of our fantastic CDA® Navigators! She’ll be taking over our Facebook and Instagram stories today. Lisa is a Navigator in the northeast Iowa region, and she’ll be walking us through her day as a Navigator. Here’s Lisa’s favorite part about being a Navigator:
“I love being a Navigator because I’m able to help individuals reach their career pathway goals and to see them accomplish something that is very rewarding.”
For more insight on what the Navigators do, follow along with Lisa today!

Hispanic Educational Resources, Inc.
Hispanic Educational Resources, Inc. (HER) was founded in 1983 by the United Mexican American Community Center (UMACC) to develop, promote and improve the employment, education, health, economic and leadership development of Hispanics/Latinos. Since 1984, HER has been effectively developing and administering vital needs programs within the greater Des Moines area.
Xochipilli* Early Education Center was the primary program of HER and was established in 1995 to provide quality, bilingual early educational programming to children and families in the Latino community. Xochipilli has a licensed capacity to serve 94 children in its three programs: toddlers, preschool and 4-5 year olds. Families served by Xochipilli are 94% Latino. Of those families, more than 95% are considered low-income and qualify for some form of tuition and/or public assistance based on poverty level standards.
In 2009 the Xochipilli was renamed to Conmigo Early Education Center. It is an early education program that serves the whole family, as well as young children, by providing a variety of community opportunities, resources and services to meet each family’s basic needs and desires. Conmigo partners with a variety of health and community service organizations to assure that families and children served have access to the health and safety resources they need. 80-90% of the families of children served by Conmigo are engaged in programs and resources offered at the center.
In 2014 Drake University and Hispanic Educational Resources partnered to further support high-quality early education for children from birth until age 3. We opened our Infant and Toddler classroom in late 2015 and now we serve children from 6 weeks old to 5 years of age (Preschool) .
