Almosta Farm
Welcome to our little hobby chicken farm
Now that it’s chick season I am seeing this oldie but goodie resurface on my fellow Farm Friends pages. Feel free NOT to reach out to us if you are any of the following 🤪
Sharing from a poultry group. These things happen.
The Top 10 Worst Chicken Buyers by Steve Neumann
1. Nancy No Show- Nothing says, "I respect you" more than failing to call or message somebody that you can't make an arranged time to pick up birds.
2. Rebecca Raise My Birds for Me- The person who strings you along with steady excuses of why they can't pick up chicks you're holding for them as they get progressively older, more well feathered. Puts the seller in the awkward position of renegotiating the price for prolonged care of chicks. they never intended to keep and raise out.
3. Porter the Price Critic- "Your birds are too expensive. I can get one from X for this much." Fine, by all means, please do.
4. Wishy Washy Wanda- "Well, we haven't started building the coop yet, and I need to talk to my husband, so I will call you back." No you wont.
Please stop wasting my time.
5. Hagar the Belated Haggler- After bringing birds somewhere to sell with a clearly listed price and no discussion of price, he starts haggling..after putting the birds in his cage.
6. Samuel the Chicken Student- After asking chicken rearing questions for an hour over info that could be gleaned from any web forum, he disappears, only to call back a couple weeks later and say, "I bought birds from X because they were cheaper, but they're sick. What should I do?"
Please...go look it up and leave me alone.
7. Renae the Rooster Wrath Lady- Sometimes a refund or an exchanged pullet is just not enough retribution in the world for the horrible torture she went through getting a rooster. And she lets EVERYBODY know about it.
8. Howard the Horrible Hatcher- The reason most people don't sell hatching eggs. Somebody who blasts you on every web forum known to man because he couldn't hatch any eggs after the postman kicked the package, and he set
the eggs in a crappy still air incubator he got at a garage sale.
9. Pricilla the Problematic Proxy Breeder- Buys birds from you, crosses them to some ugly hatchery birds, and sells horrible ugly birds she says are from your line.
10. Milton the Misinformed- "Your Marans are supposed to have clean shanks." No dude, they're not. Go look at the standard before you tell me what I have is wrong.

Hi there Queens of the Coop Friends!
This is going to be a long post as we have a bit of information to cover, but make sure you read until the end as we have a really fun G•I•V•E•A•W•A•Y!
1. We have gotten a lot of new followers and it has been a while so we thought we’d first re-introduce ourselves. There are three of us that run this page: Francene, Dawn, and Katey (Francene’s daughter). We live in Burkburnett, Texas, right along the Oklahoma border. About two and a half years ago we met Dawn through chickens, and since that very first day that we met, there hasn’t been a single day that has gone by without us talking. And coincidentally we live only about 5 minutes away from each other (thankfully, because somedays I seem to make a million trips back and forth between our houses). We decided to make a page together In January of 2022. Me(Francene) and Katey had been bouncing around the idea to make this page, and we decided that Dawn would be a great business partner/addition to the page! ….. We are so incredibly blessed to have made such a good friendship, so much that she feels like family. We understand that having three of us on the same page can make things a bit more complicated, especially when it comes to 💰-ment methods and correspondence, but there are also many reasons that it is beneficial. We each bring different elements to Queens of the Coop to make it as successful as possible. Francene is creative and is constantly brainstorming new ideas, and has spent her entire adult life working in customer service. Dawn works in the medical field and has a better understanding of anatomy and health issues, and Katey is our design and advertising specialist. We have different schedules so if one of us isn’t available, usually the other can chip in and get shipping done or meeting with customers, etc. Dawn is more of a morning person and Francene & Katey are night owls. We realize sometimes when you message us, you don’t know which one you are corresponding with. We are brainstorming ideas to make it easier for everyone. All of that being said, even with three of us, it is still so hard to keep up with messages. So if you have messaged us and didn’t receive a response, please know we didn’t do so on purpose. If we haven’t replied within a day or two, please message us again! Messages can very easily get buried! We can get up to 75-100 messages a day sometimes so it can be a little overwhelming, to say the least!
2. We don’t want our Queens of the Coop page just to be about selling, we want this page to create a community centered around kindness, friendship, and mutual support/respect. We want this to be a space that brings everyone together for the shared love of chickens!! This page is for everyone, as long as you're spreading kindness!
“Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They Bless the one who receives them, And they Bless you, The Giver.
- Barbara De Angelis”

This is an incredible opportunity to gain serious understanding of the basics of Silkie Type from one of the BEST. If you have the time and are so inclined I highly recommend tuning into this upcoming class. When someone of this magnitude offers up knowledge it is a gift that should be snatched up with both hands!
Hey all, preparing for the first installment of "Silkie Type" we will basically go over the entire head- according to the Bantam Standard of Perfection. I will go over the topics and then try to answer as many questions as possible, I hope you can make it!
MAJOR news here at Almosta Farm …. We have Kikiriki eggs set in our incubator 😱. Cannot wait for mid January 🐣 PM us if you want to get a spot on our waitlist
And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night 🎄🎁🎅
Babies will be released after the holiday. Don’t need any of those surprise gifts of pets to be lost in the shuffle of the busy season. From our family at Almosta Farm to yours, Merry Christmas.
My goodness, I would classify this face as “when you didn’t ask to be here yet here you are” 🤣😂🤣. Grump factor of a 8 out of 10 here
We took a break over the summer but back to hatching for all your chicken math needs! Babies still floofing up in the incubator now but will have some available and posted soon. Happy Holidays everyone 🐥
Received our copy of Tuft the Silkie & the Nighttime Noises today! Thank you Eva Klingler of Silkie Acres for making such an adorable children’s book that I can share with my son. I can’t wait to read it with him tonight 🐥
Ever been going about your chores and a chicken just captivates you with their beauty? Something about an Ermine Ameraucana that is just so dramatic and stunning!
Short, Golden and Handsome seeking flock of my own.
Enjoys mealworms, digging in dirt, fixing my fabulous head p**f, singing the song of my people, and eventually dancing for my ladies.
Turn-offs are soup pots, butcher knives, broom sticks and big snakes…. Don’t ask 😵💫
Definitely looking for “open relationships”.
Available to a good home that will make me happy 😊
Yesterday I was taking our puppy for a walk in a local small park by our home before I left for work. Yes she is a puppy, only 8 months old and still has a LOT more growing to do. Khaleesi is a very sweet and friendly dog, we lovingly nicknamed her Big Dawg or Marmaduke because of her lovable nature. She is a LGD and yesterday when I encountered a strange person was the first time I ever witnessed her instinctual protective behavior and processing skills in action. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Without any training she immediately sensed something was off while this person was easily over 100’ away from me but she was right on it. As he approached and started interacting she was very agitated and let him know I was not to be touched. She was a physical barrier and made sure she let him know to step away immediately. She kept watch as we walked to our car the entire time as she was glued to my side. I don’t know if anything would have happened if it wasn’t for her but I am thankful that she was with me. I can now see the guardian nature these Turkish Boz Shepards are naturally born with and will never doubt her possession of that trait ever again. We love you Khaleesi and thank you for protecting our lives 🥰
🚨🚨🚨PUBLIC MEETING UPDATE 🚨🚨🚨
I have received notification from the Doylestown Twp that the Board of Supervisors had reviewed my letter and requested the matter be taken up with the Planning Commission. This will now take place on Monday June 26th at 7:00pm at the Twp building 425 Wells Road in Doylestown.
That meeting will be an open session where we will be able to discuss the current zoning and how restrictive it is as it currently stands. We would love for anyone available to come and show support in having this changed to a far less restrictive and more reasonable plan going forward given the so many factors that are in favor of keeping our backyard flocks! A big show of support and strength is vital to this effort. I believe this will help the community as a whole and surrounding areas as a movement! If we are successful in our efforts, this model of proposed change could help others with their battles for other townships and boroughs.
Anyone with questions please feel free to PM me (I think there was a woman asking for the letter I sent but messenger went screwy and now I can’t find it so if you see this please re-message me and I will send it).
Thank you EVERYONE I’m advance for your support and I look forward to seeing all my chicken 🐓 families at the meeting!!! Miss Wheaties appreciated all your support too 🥰
I can’t believe that our little chicken set up made the feature article of “One Cool Coop” in the March/April issue of Chickens 🐓 Magazine 😱. We submitted it for review last year and never heard back so I just figured we weren’t going to be considered for the feature. Well I was doing some spring cleaning and Tristan was skimming through the magazine that I didn’t even read yet when he started freaking out! He was so excited to see our coop and his name in print 🤣. Thank you for featuring our little slice of heaven in your Magazine! We are very honored 🥰
I thought it was Humpty Dumpty that sat on a wall 🤔. Oh well, I guess Sweetie Wheaties can sit there so long as she doesn’t p**p out an 🥚 to have a great fall 🤪

🚨🚨🚨SOLD🚨🚨🚨
Two Marans babies. This is going to sound bizarre but due to a tagging issue with their leg bands falling off it’s not guaranteed they are 💯 pure breed Marans or dark Egger mixes 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️. I hate to make them too tight and sometimes they falloff… our loss your gain! Pm for details.
