Founded in 1998, the Upper Darby Arts & Education Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation formed to improve the quality of educational and cultural programs in Upper Darby. Operated by an independent Board of Directors, the Foundation does not depend on taxpayers for its funding. The UDAEF has supported innovative programs in music and theater, adaptive arts, and early childhood education.

Creating puppets, designing costumes, and dancing a "monster mash" -- Summer Stage's Theatre Bugs took over on Thursdays in the YMCA/UDSD after school programs at Westbrook Park Elementary! This October 'push in' program allowed kids to learn what it is like to be part of the Summer Stage experience -- maybe they will be centerstage someday! We are on to Hillcrest for November - be sure to check with your YMCA instructor to see when they come to your school!

What FUN!! Our first Thursday of "Orchestra In October" at the Primos branch Upper Darby Township Library to celebrate Delco Arts Week! Professional violinist, Ms. Julienne Ikegami, (Ikegami Music Studio) played Beethoven -- Ms. Rachee shared a music-related story time -- and Mr. Chris Labonde, our MusicMan Academy educator, led the kids and their caregivers in active listening, movement, and drawing! The kids really loved moving to the famous Can Can by Orpheus.! Participants also learned about the different instruments of the string section of the orchestra and even had the opportunity to try each one in the instrument petting zoo! (Adults did too!)

In celebration of Delco Arts Week -- the UDAEF is launching our "Pop Up" Arts programs in Upper Darby! First stop? Partnering with the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County after school care programs in the Upper Darby School District to keep kids active and creative with our ukulele workshop! We are starting at Westbrook Park Elementary and will visit all the YMCA after care programs this year. Tuesdays will be MusicMan Academy workshops and Thursday will be Summer Stage Jr workshops! Operated by an independent Board of Directors, the Foundation does not depend on taxpayers for its funding and operates separately from the school district. The Foundation provides a means for those who support our schools to contribute directly to the educational programs offered to our students. All funds raised by the Foundation support enhanced educational programs and are not used to offset taxes.
