We cannot forget all those heroes out there that are supportive, that are role models, that sometimes are moms, and of course are a pilar in parenting!
Happy father’s day!! You are all amazing and do a great job 💙🫶🏼.
😣 Night terrors are often confused with sleep crying, which usually happens in overtired toddlers.
😣 There are different ways to know if our toddler is having night terrors:
👉🏼 They take place during the 1st half of the night.
👉🏼The child looks scared/afraid; they scream and cry, and will not react to our intervention.
👉🏼The following day they will not remember anything.
👉🏼Sometimes they may look awake, but they are really not.
😣 Night terrors have their own cycles that need to be completed. Therefore, in most cases is it better not to intervene.
😣They may be caused by some medicines, overtiredness or sleep apnea.
😣 Make sure you track wake windows in order to avoid unnecessary wakings and and overtired toddler. That way it’ll be easier to determine if they are going through a night terror or no.
😣 They usually start around age 2.
❓Have you experienced this at home??
⏰ This is just an example of what a sleep schedule could look like for a 4 to 6 months old.
⏰ When trying to put your baby on a schedule the most important thing is to keep in mind the wake windows.
⏰ Wake times will lengthen during this period. A more consistent schedule should be in place at this age.
⏰ I can help you adjust your schedule and with nap transitions as your baby grows.
⏰ This is just an example of what a sleep schedule could look like for a 3 to 4 months old.
⏰ When trying to put your baby on a schedule the most important things is to keep in mind the wake windows.
⏰ All schedules DO NOT look the same. You need to consider what’s best for you and your little one, and go from there. This is just a sample.

🦷 Teething: the big troublemaker.
🦷 How many times have you blamed everything on teething? Behavior, bad feedings, bad sleep,…
🦷 Truth is that it does affect sleep. However, the pain should not last more than 5 days. Once the tooth pops, it should be over.
🦷 If sleep issues continue after the tooth is out, then we must be looking at something else that is affecting sleep.
🦷 During teething try to move bedtime a little earlier if the day was rough, but try to keep routines and schedules the same if possible.
👉🏼 Has teething impacted your little one’s sleep?
📲 Share with a family of a teething baby!
✔️It is one of the hardest sleep regressions our babies go through.
✔️Sleep becomes active, sleep cycles mature, and babies are aware of it. The problem now is their ability to connect cycles ir not independently.
✔️It happens between 3 - 5 months.
✔️This sleep regression results in difficulty sleeping, and with naps. Change in behavior and more wakings.
👉🏼Wondering how to survive the so dreaded 4 months regression??
1️⃣ Stay calm! It shall pass.
2️⃣ Stretch the wake windows to a maximum of 1:45 - 2 hours.
3️⃣ Keep everything the same (routines, schedules). Stay consistent. If you havent yet introduced a bedtime routine, start one.
4️⃣ Check the sleep environment (read previous post about it).
5️⃣ Careful with props! Switch your settling techniques around: rock, swing, pat,… but don’t let any of them become a prop.
👉🏼 How did you survive it? Going through the regression now?

FAQ 👉🏼 What should I do? Baby started to roll…😖
🔹No need to panic! It’s a milestone that needs to be achieved, and although it might be scary at night, it is exciting!!
🔹Try to make sure that you are practicing during the day. Practice, practice, practice!! Practice makes perfect, and that is just what we need: perfect rolling back and forth.
🔹Once you see your baby has mastered the skill and is comfortable rolling both sides independently, with no help at all… we are good to go! Baby can stay on his tummy if he rolls at night, and we don’t need to roll them back. No more rolling wake ups!
👉🏼 Is you baby rolling yet?
📲Share this with a newborn mama going through or approaching the rolling stage.
❓Have you heard about the ‘Baby Container Syndrome’ before?
❓How long are you putting your baby in a bouncer, floor seat, stroller, car seat, swing,…?
ℹ️ Placing a baby in any of these items for extended periods of time may lead to some issues known as the ’Baby Container Syndrome’.
ℹ️ We easily tend to get busy, and rely on these items to keep our babies safe while doing our chores. Specially my multiples mamas, I feel you!
ℹ️ Excessive time in a “container” will affect you baby’s development and delay the ability to achieve some milestones such as rolling, sitting, and/or standing.
ℹ️ It may also lead to plagiocephaly (flat spots on the head), and torticollis (tight neck muscles).
ℹ️ Limit “container time” to a maximum of 30 minutes a day. Place your baby on a supervised, safe baby proof area on the floor and allow them to move when awake. If they fall asleep in the container, move them to their sleeping space.
ℹ️ The American Academy of Pediatrics has also banned some of this equipment over time. Make sure you are aware of what you are using, it might not be safe!
📲If you found this useful, please share. Many families out there may need to hear this.
As a twim mom I get asked multiple times how I do it.
Well… here are some tips and tricks for twin life survival!
▫️When they send you home, your babies are on a 3 hour feeding schedule. Stick to it as much as possible; keep them on the same schedule with a difference of maybe 20-30 between them so that you can care for both in the even of being alone.
▫️Keeping them synced is a must. When one naps, the other naps. If one wakes up, wake up the other one.
▫️Share the night wakings and feedings with your significant other or family member. The goal is to get as much sleep as possible.
▫️Caring for 2 can feel like 10 sometimes, you need to find time for yourself, your mental health and be well rested.
▫️Sleep training twins may sound impossible, but it is not. We did both, in the same room, at the same time. It was exhausting, I have to say not easy… but the most rewarding thing for our family.
▫️Remember: consistency is the key to success!!

💙You are all amazing, keep fighting, stay strong 💪🏼.
💙Happy International Woman’s Day!
🔹I don’t know who came up with the brilliant idea of “that’s what you get for being a mom”.
🔹I don’t understand why people believe that it is okay to be judgmental.
🔹Parents are humans, not robots. They get tired, and they need sleep as much as their children do.
🔹Sleep deprivation is not safe. It affects our bodies mentally and physically, therefore the way we care for our babies.
🔹Sleep is a basic need for you as it is for your growing little ones, just like food. So please make it a priority!
👉🏼 Can you relate?
👉🏼 Did you know…❓
🔎 Researches show that people who do not get enough sleep are more vulnerable to viruses.
🔎 A study led by the University of San Francisco, Carnegie Mellon University, and University of Pittsburgh showed that people who sleep 6 or less hours are more likely to catch a cold than those who sleep 7 or more hours!
🔎 These findings add to the evidence of the importance of sleep for our health, both in babies and parents.

〰️During the process of sleep training your babies, you might run into some bumps in the road〰️
🌙 At this age babies are "learning to sleep." This can obviously result in a regression, since before this, they were able to sleep just about anywhere at any time in the newborn stage.
🌙 Babies are learning a new skill: rolling. And they will want to practice it all the time, even at night!
🌙 Three month growth spurt.
🌙 Last but not least... the scary four month regression.
➡️ Typically there will sure be a worsening of sleep around this age.
➡️There are many ways to ease these bumps and build a healthy sleep foundation from the early months.

False ❌
🔹 Sleep is biological, yes, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t help our children learn how to get the best sleep they need.
🔹 Children with sleep problems, do NOT outgrow them, they can evolve into teens and adults’ problems. It’s never too early or too late to teach healthy sleep habits.
🔹Same way we help our babies practice any other skills, we need to help them learn how to sleep independently because in many cases we are doing all the work for them.
🔹We believe some things happen naturally, yet at some point we need lactation consultants, speech and/or physical therapists… Things can be so unnatural, and sleep as well!

🎄From our family to yous, Merry Christmas🎄
May all your “sleep” dreams come true 💙😴.
Do you know how to read your Baby’s cues❓❓
🥱Babies are constantly giving us cues to tell us that is time to sleep. Sometimes it’s hard to understand what they are trying to say, so here is a little cheat sheet to know when is time to put your baby to sleep and get the best rest.
🥱Remeber it is important to find the right time to put them down within their wake window.
🥱You’ll have to learn when your baby is showing early tired cues in order to find the right time.
🥱It is important to understand the cues because putting a baby down when they are over tired makes bedtime a lot harder.
🥱Sleep cues can also be confused with hunger cues. Following an appropriate schedule will help differentiate between the cues.

❓When should my baby be transitioning?
❓Some people asked about the age where nap transitions should be happening.
❓Transitioning to one less nap should occur in these baby and toddler stages.
⁉️ However, remember that each baby is different and these ages may vary a little depending on each case.
PM me or shoot me an email if you have any other questions! And please share 📲to reach more parents that might find this information helpful.

👉🏼 These are some ways to know if your baby might need to drop a nap:
🌙 Is your baby all of a sudden waking up earlier than his usual time every morning?
🌙 Are naps getting shorter and shorter?
🌙 Is your baby staying awake longer between naps?
🌙 Is he fighting sleep at bedtime, like not feeling tired at all or showing no signs of bedtime?
🌙 Is your baby protesting going down for a nap, and getting him to sleep is more and more difficult?
‼️ Note that some babies will exhibit these behaviors when going through a developmental milestone or a regression. However, if your baby is consistently doing this and is around the age of dropping a nap, then you should consider doing it.

🤱🏾It is very normal that a baby dislikes the swaddle. Clients often report that their baby “hates it”. However, most babies ultimately sleep a lot better in it.
👩🏼🍼Newborns have a very strong startle or Moro reflex (sudden movements of arms and/or legs), and this may cause a lot of wakings. So, a proper fitting swaddle usually helps a newborn sleep much better. Proper fitting means the right size for the baby, not too loose so that baby's arms are sneaking out, or too small and tight.
▪️Important ‼️ Anywhere between 3 and 5 months old, once the baby can roll or shows signs of rolling, stop swaddling straight away because it is no longer safe.
▪️Tip: right after swaddling, distract the baby for a couple of minutes before putting him down. Walk around the room, play some white noise, rock him a little… after a while he will accept it and will sleep a lot better.
🆓 PM me if you would like to receive some more safe guidelines to swaddling.

📌The use of a pacifier does not always mean that it is a “bad” sleep prop. For instance, pacifiers can offer many benefits such as:
✔️SIDS risk reduction
✔️Great for illness
✔️Helpful during teething
✔️Great for fussiness
✔️Helps with coping with vaccinations/procedures
✔️Helps with baby’s innate physical need to suck
✔️Helps baby settle for the night
✔️And so much more.
📌If the pacifier isn’t causing sleep disruptions, then there’s no need to change anything.
📌However, if it’s too disruptive to baby’s sleep, or baby/toddler is old enough to be taken off a pacifier (usually 18–24 months), it’s best to eliminate it altogether.
📌Pacifiers are mostly a problem for those babies who are not yet capable of putting the pacifier in themselves, and will need help to reinsert it every time it falls out. Once a baby can find and reinsert it, the problem is usually solved.
📌Babies with a strong dependency also usually only take catnaps, and will have many night wakings because they cannot transition in between sleep cycles without that pacifier.
📌There are two ways to handle a pacifier dependency:
1. Work on decreasing dependency, which sometimes works well.
2. Eliminate it completely, which may be necessary for some babies/toddlers.
📌Some parents also get emotional about getting rid of the pacifier, but there are some fun ways to eliminate the pacifier that will make this easier on both mommy and the child. 🤱🏻
