Domonique loves being a steward at Collins Hill Park. Today she pucked up books, maintained the book box at Collins Hill Park, and enjoyed providing reading materials for Gwinnett County youth. G.R.E.A.T. Little Minds Summary Initiated by the Gwinnett Coalition for Heath and Human Services, the G.R.E.A.T (Gwinnett Reading Exchange & Art Transforms) Little Minds is a selection of small book exchanges located throughout Gwinnett. Members of the community can help steward a child’s love of reading in a fun and interactive way! Simply drop off books, suitable for children ages birth through 8 and a book exchange near you. Not only are the G.R.E.A.T. Little Minds book exchanges a fun find for inquisitive children, they also encourage an appreciation for public art for everyone!

We asked Domonique to share what she loved most about being a member of GCYD. Here’s what she had to say! As a member of Gwinnett County Young Democrats, I have truly enjoyed watching our meetings grow in community and celebration for candidates and the community itself. Being part of this organization has given me a front-row seat to the professionalism and growth we embody. Gwinnett County Young Democrats is a wonderfully diverse group, rich with different ages, perspectives, leadership styles, ethnicities, and races. This diversity is one of our greatest strengths and makes our gatherings all the more vibrant. Two of my favorite activities have been billiards and karaoke. Billiards was a blast and incredibly enjoyable. Karaoke was super exciting, especially for me—a certified non-singer who routinely sings tunes off-key for a living but loves a good beat and nostalgic songs. Through GCYD, I had the pleasure as a former candidate of meeting and mingling with others. I was grateful to share my platform, future plans, and the purpose of community engagement with constituents and community leaders. Yesterday, Domonique had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Summer of Impact 2024 Summer Workshop with her son, Jabari. This session focused on the Summer of High School Survival Guide. Although Jabari is a rising fifth grader, it was great to see him get involved in conversations that are already echoed at home. The workshop covered essential topics such as adjusting to high school or academy, understanding myths and facts about high school, and setting and achieving SMART goals—both academic and personal. It also delved into class structure, organizational tools, building relationships, overcoming challenges, and included various reflections. The students did an amazing job presenting these topics. Kudos to Emerson, Steven, and Jeminye for their impressive contributions. Yesterday, Domonique had the wonderful opportunity to be a speaker for the Duluth Civitan Club. It was an honor for him to discuss the importance of making a difference in our community and to share his journey of community service. During his talk, Domonique highlighted some of his core principles: - Inclusivity and Diversity - Building Strong Support Networks - Active Engagement and Participation - Empowerment through Education and Mentorship - Public Service as a Civic Duty He also shared his background in community service and some of his community involvement since becoming a resident of Gwinnett County. It was enriching for him to connect with the club members and discuss his philosophy and principles of community connection. Today, Domonique had the wonderful pleasure of attending the orientation for the third annual Junior Investigator/Junior DA program participants. These impressive high school students and recent graduates earned the opportunity to be part of this year’s 2024 program based on their applications. Over the next 10 days, these students will immerse themselves in the DA's office, participating in activities such as mock trials, learning sessions with various organizations, nonprofits, community leaders, and professionals. They will also go on field trips to facilities like corrections, the jail, and the Gwinnett County Police Headquarters. This program is designed to provide these students with invaluable knowledge about careers, college pathways, and other related information. During today’s orientation, students and their parents learned about the program schedule and proper dress code etiquette. It was inspiring to see their excitement and eagerness to learn. Various organizations were also in attendance, including the DEA, COYAD, Mosaic Georgia, Guide, Perfectly Imperfect, and Attendant. Domonique found it wonderful to be a part of today’s program, to listen and learn. She is continually moved by the incredible initiatives in the community and deeply motivated by the unwavering support the District Attorney's office provides to youth and various community initiatives. This program is truly amazing, and she wholeheartedly supports its efforts. Attending today’s orientation at the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Building was a fantastic opportunity, and Domonique was especially overjoyed to be there with her son, Jabari. Domonique is proud to announce that she has officially completed her children's book series with 16 books. The series is called "Alphabet Alliterations." As of this afternoon, all 16 books have been completed and sent to the illustrator. The books are set to be finished later this year. Domonique's series focuses on social emotional learning, coping skills, resilience, empathy, and other related topics, and is geared toward elementary-aged children. Domonique is thrilled to transition from being an author of books for adults to becoming an official children's book author. With all manuscripts completed, she looks forward to releasing these books and hopes to have the support of the community when they are published later this year. Solo lunch moments are fascinating and much needed, especially on the campaign trail. Overstimulation from life, work, family, and campaign duties can be overwhelming. Today, Domonique took a brief moment to enjoy tacos, fried ice cream, and flan. Life is sweeter with dessert first! 🌮 🍨 Campaigning since May 2023 has been one of her best decisions. It brings her immense joy to campaign where her family, especially her children, can see her in a new light. This journey has required faith, confidence, and increased community visibility.
