🐾🐾 BREEDER SURRENDER 🐾🐾
As 2024 approached, we were presented with a dire circumstance where 12 pups needed rescue – 12! CRF gets tips and leads all the time and in reality, don’t come to fruition.🐶🐾

Tragically, the owner/ breeder passed away and the family couldn’t care for all of these pups, so CRF jumped into action. This rescue is epic – a mammoth and historical “pup-itarian” effort for our almost 25-year-old organization. We learned lessons from our April 2023 Puppy Mill rescue, but this is different, twice as big! We had minimal notice to organize logistics, confirm available fosters, arrange transport to and from across the state, pre-schedule vet appointments and due to the number of Cavies, we even had to order more crates and color-coded collars!

We have saved 10 females and two males, all beautiful Blenheims and Tri-colors, aged 1.5 years to 9-years-old from a gritty breeder operation. While we are grateful they called CRF, we hate to think of their well-being as they were rescued from harsh outdoor living—backyard of dirt, chicken wire fencing and patchy grass. Arriving flea infested, dirty, with no medical information, records and most likely, no specialty care, these breeder pups are not spayed or neutered. We were prepared for and expecting 13 pups, our beautiful Baker’s Dozen, but as things changed we ended up with 12, still our beautiful Baker’s Dozen. ❤

Despite the need to surrender, this situation is not without love. This was another heart wrenching case where the “relinquisher” is not only mourning her sister (breeder/ owner), but is now saying goodbye to 12 of her little family members. 💔It was heartbreaking to watch as she got on her knees, on the ground and kissed each one of the pups goodbye. Yes, we're crying, too.😭

With their cute, yet filthy faces pressed up against the bars of the crate or their hindquarters tucked far into the corners of their transport kennels, these pups were scared. Scared of the unknown and the hectic transition of what, unbeknownst to them, will luckily become their happily ever after.

Fortunately, these beauties were saved and rushed into our love and care. They will thrive in warm homes, sleep in soft beds, and be swaddled with medical care, snuggles and so much love.❤️

Typical costs for vetting a newly rescued pup are approximately $3000 each-we now have 12 new pups in our care, that’s $36,000.
