MacDriller, Inc.
A Licensed Directional Drilling & Utility Contractor MacDriller, Inc. has moved to St. Petersburg as of August 21, 2020.
Soo back on the road again, this time in Seven Springs (Pasco Co) and our buddy Johnny from McKim & Creed stopped by! We are 480’ in for our 640’ bore of an 8” conduit for the local power company!
Thankfully the water is 10’ lower than it was 2 weeks ago after Hurricane Debby.
Partnering again with the most awesome folks from American Boring & Trenching, inc. as we have for nearly 15 years!
This one is a challenging 2 year old design 0.7’ off the R/W line that we assisted with across the Anclote River. To add to the challenges, just last week we discovered a fiber optic cable was bored in the same corridor 6 months ago!
5 years in the making, from walking the job with Art Gilmore in July 2019, to installation of three 8in HDPE conduits in July 2024, 745LF has been pulled beneath the Lake Tarpon Outfall Canal in Palm Harbor, FL (Pinellas County). The 6(!) traffic-rated pullboxes are also installed. Many thanks go out to the parties that made this happen, including all the folks at Duke Energy, Pinellas County RW & Public Works, and SWFWMD. Huge thanks go out to our close partners American Boring & Trenching, inc. and Clymer Farner Barley Surveying LLC. The project also recently endured Hurricane Debby which only delayed it one day.
It’s been a busy but light 2 years as MacDriller’s offices have moved from St Petersburg to Dunedin to Lady Lake - but we continue to serve Duke Energy and other clients with our subaqueous directional bore design-builds in coordination with our partners CFB Surveying, LLC, GeoPoint Surveying, and American Boring & Trenching, inc.!
Since 2022, MacDriller has only constructed 1 project (The Narrows Intracoastal Waterway at Indian Rocks Beach), but we’ve helped design 9 more crossings that await funding and/or permitting.
Coming up shortly will be a 775LF crossing of Tarpon Canal in Pinellas County consisting of three 8in conduits and 6 pullboxes. White-lining was performed yesterday, stay tuned!
Pilot bore exit crossing The Narrows! 720LF of two 8in HDPE conduits for power. Step 1 complete, several steps to follow!
It’s been a while, but time for another subaqueous bore! This one is for power, from 113th in Largo to Central in Indian Rock Beach, on the beach! Tentative start May 1…
Attending a Pipeline Safety Training forum in Safety Harbor - Brian Dean with Sunshine 811 presenting. Great forum with free breakfast to educate the industry and especially to the boots on the ground.

4 of the Top 5 record days (since the early 1990s) were last month!
Pull rope ("Mule Tape") installed to pull cables for power distribution from Morgan Road Substation. Twin 8in bores, 350LF beneath US41, CSX Railroad, and 2 HUGE (30in & 36in) gas transmission mains.
Next up: restoration and close-out.
This MacDiller, Inc. design-build operation spanned from May 2018 - September 2021, including easement acquisitions.
A good feeling!
An accomplishment much larger than the bore itself. MacDriller designed and built two bores beneath US Highway 41, a CSX railroad, and two Florida Gas Transmission pipelines in Land O' Lakes (Pasco Co). The task was to install 8in HDPE for power distribution of two feeder circuits from a new substation. The project started in May 2018 but the actual construction completed in merely a week. Many meetings, emails, and phone calls were required to expand the growing demands of central Pasco County despite the permitting, entities involved, and a pandemic frequently stalling it.
A huge relief to see the second bore's drill bit exit successfully after all of these efforts!
Another design-build bore in Pinellas County, first discussed in 2019 and anticipated to be pulled in today. 600ft of 8" HDPE for 3-phase power distribution beneath Joe's Creek in Lealman. The Creek bottom is 20ft lower than the entry/exit ends, and the goal was to be an additional 25ft deep to minimize the risk of drill fluid frac-outs into the creek.
As expected, this team provides amazing quality, quickly!
