Wild You Handmade
Our mission is to create a soul connection between the artisan and the art lover through the vibrant designs of Colombian handmade accessories. Dignified Pay.
We work with Wayuu women in La Guajira and Inga women in Putumayo. Wild You Handmade currently offers shipping to the continental US only. Our company is split between Medellín, Colombia and Cary, North Carolina.
This is a big shout out to the ladies who you’ve probably seen in the shop lately!
Stacy, Honey, and Ruby (not pictured) stepped in while I was in Colombia to keep the shop open so you could continue to support artisans in Colombia the last few weeks 🙌.
Though I thought I was going to be back in the shop this Saturday, life has other plans and I’m making a trip out west to support loved ones during a difficult time. I’m very grateful that these passionate women will be around on Saturdays to keep the shop open until I’m back mid-November.
YOU WILL SEE FRESH accessories, hummingbirds, christmas ornaments and little stocking stuffers in the shop on Sat!! So it is 100% recommended and worth going by from 10-3 to get first picks 🙃💕😊.
Thanks for your continued support,
Steph

Hola a todos! A little check in from us:
Opening the shop this year and leaning more into the unknown has been a total exercise in letting go and trusting the process (at least for me, Steph 😅) and we’ve never had finances tighter BUT at the same time feeling more aligned with the steps we’re taking to make sure Wild You Handmade doesn’t only survive but THRIVES in the future!
I knew there would be risks involved and we are still in the part where I at least feel a little crazy but intuitively know it’s worth it. I’m past being worried and now happily flying towards “delusionally” going towards our dreams!!
As we head into the second part of 2024 we hope to continue to have your support, you’ve helped us make it this far (3 years of being on the ground in NC and the first year of online while we still were in Colombia full time).
These photos are from very dear friends’ wedding this past weekend, a few days to reconnect camping in nature before we zoom forward the rest of the month!! Including our first multiple day market event with in Asheville July 26th-28th 💫
Basically all of that to say GRACIAS! Look out for new accessories & art to hit the shop and online very soon, and that I’m thinking of a summer sale for you all (ideas welcomed!!).
With gratitude,
Steph & Lohen
Ps- yes, that color of Womb earrings I’m wearing will be available soon!!

Since opening the shop, our colors and logo have shifted to reflect the growth of our small business. The hummingbird was added to our rectangle logo as a much more meaningful touch since our beaded hummingbirds are your favorites, and they represent good luck 🤗💕.
So now I’m working on the circle logo update! I would love to keep the yellow background to keep our brand recognition online and at markets, but which one is your favorite?
Honest feedback encouraged 🤪.
Just three peeks at twelve new Wayuu mochilas that are now online 🌷. I’m so excited about these bright and inspiring colors for the warmer weather ahead!
These bags were skillfully made by Asociación de Tejedores Wayuu Iwouyaa in Riohacha. I’m amazed by the colors of this mochilas! Never have had any like these ones before 🌈.
Go check out our New Releases at wildyouhandmade.com to see even more 🫶.
If you’ve been wanting to add more color to your home decor and make it meaningful, a colorful handsewn Mola is a lovely choice! Made by indigenous artisans on the northeastern coast of Colombia, these designs are traditional symbols of protection. They even have the name of the artisan who made them on the back 🥰.
Cecy, owner of the gallery where our shop is located, got two for her own home 🌈. We have lots in the shop and hopefully I’ll get a few new ones online soon 🤞.
Drop any questions you might have about Molas or the artisans who make them and I’m happy to share more!!
SPRING CLEANING! 50% OFF this week only!
Go check out this collection while there is still a wide selection of colors and styles available.
We’ve decided to mark all these lovely pieces down to make room in our budget for new orders with our artisan friends. These colors and styles won’t be back… well… we can’t say never, but it’s HIGHLY unlikely 🙈.

Wear your wild heart
The idea for Wild You came to me during the first few weeks of quarantine, where I live in Medellín, Colombia. I was already an admirer of the art of the Wayuu mochila, and after having a creative few weeks crocheting myself, I sat down one evening and had a virtual happy hour with my mom, my first drink in probably two months (and it was just one, didn’t take much!). Then I started looking at all the mochilas on Instagram and I found one that called to me. I started asking the woman about how the Wayuu communities were doing with the total lockdown that Colombia was in the middle of. She told me it was difficult for artisans to get supplies to crochet bags, that the sales were down, and the existing problems with nutrition, lack of water, and general scarcity of the region of La Guajira (where the Wayuu people live) had only intensified. Since leaving the US in 2016 I have been wanting to do something with women artisans, and since I couldn’t buy everything for myself to keep (if only I had that kind of budget!) that selling to other women who love the crafts was the best option.
Wild You had its first social media appearance on June 28th, 2020. I have found myself surrounded by many supportive family members and friends (old and new!), that have given me the courage and lent their wisdom and skills to launch a small conscious business selling accessories from Indigenous women in Colombia. I also hope to support other women in Colombia with their sustainable or ethical brands. I’ve been so fortunate to have connected with inspirational female leaders in the Wayuu and Inga communities, who teach women how to make ancestral crafts and then sell them as a collective. Quarantine has taught me that we are not actually alone, we are more connected than ever if we only will open our hearts to others.
Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to create a soul connection between the artisan and the art lover through the vibrant designs of Colombian handmade accessories. You feel this connection when you look closely at the detail and love that the artisan put into the craft. Our vision is to cultivate respectful and warm partnerships with artisans and to share their knowledge and culture through their creations. We pay dignified prices and hope to soon give back a percentage of the profits to support community projects.
