Happy New Year, y’all. A few life lessons from this year around the Sun, as represented in this picture:
1) Throw decorum to the wind. Jump in the pool with your clothes on. Take your impact seriously, but don’t take yourself seriously.
2) Be present. This moment is all that exists. Everything else is anticipatory projection or reflective memory.
3) Give ALL of your f***s to the things that matter most and reserve ZERO f***s for the nonsense. Major on the majors. Minor on the minors.
4) Talk your s**t. You’re dope.
Thank you for all of the birthday love! I’m the wealthiest human on the planet, and that’s a fact.

Often, people need to see it to be it.
My business partners (who are also my daughters) came with me to the NCInvest launch event at specifically to hear from two powerful venture investors who happen to be Black women.
The kids’ faces lit up when I told them that these Black women invest money in companies to help them grow and make even more of a difference
*Sidebar: yes, the 5 year old and 3 year old understand what these words mean because we talk about all of these things often. Little humans are far more capable than we give them credit for.
The highlight for me was when Alana, one of the speakers on the panel, mentioned that not every investment has to have “unicorn” potential…
My oldest turned to me immediately with excitement and said, “Papa, she said unicorn! I love unicorns.” Then paused, and asked, “but what does SHE mean by ‘unicorn’? Because I don’t think it’s the same kind.”
We talked about that after the event 😂
Thank you to Dr. Shante’ Williams and Alana Mann for everything you do to advance equity in entrepreneurship. On top of your capacity and skill, even just your presence is making huge waves in this space and in the lives of the people who see you as an example of what’s possible. Keep going.
In Gratitude,

I declare that the tears you’ve cried in 2022 have become water to the seeds you’ve planted, so that you thrive in 2023.
It’s go time for you.
To me, business is a spiritual practice. It’s a window into my tendencies and patterns.
Most recently, I’m learning that I have room to grow in regards to leaning on others instead of just taking everything on.
