SOS!! OUR “LIONS SHARE” FOOD PANTRY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS. CAN YOU HELP?
With some of our regular volunteers unable to continue to work their shifts through the summer and some into the fall, we find ourselves short-handed. Without volunteers we are not able to operate the food pantry. We are appealing to our community to lend a hand. We need in-house volunteers and drivers who can pick up food donations from Trader Joe's and help unload these deliveries and put away the food. The Lions Club "Lions Share" Food Pantry needs help! We are in need of volunteer drivers to pick up donations weekly at Trader Joe's in Hanover on Friday mornings between 8:30-9:00 a.m. A truck or SUV is best as pickups are sometimes quite large. We also need a couple volunteers to meet our drivers unload, weigh, & shelve the food. If you can spare a few hours each week or each month, your contributions are invaluable & will directly impact the lives of those facing food insecurity. It's that time of year again! Our local mail carriers will be participating in the NALC Food Drive on Saturday, May 11th. We have had great success with this food drive in the past and hope you will all remember to put your bagged non-perishable food donations by your mailbox this year. Your mail carrier will pick up your bags when delivering your mail. All food donations will be going to our own "Lions Share" Food Pantry here in Duxbury. Monetary donations are always welcome and now easy. Just click the "Donate" button or mail a check payable to "Duxbury Lions Charitable Foundation" with the note "Food Drive" to us at P. O. Box 1072, Duxbury, MA 02331. Thank you for helping us out again this year!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
In light of the weather forecast for tomorrow, be advised that the snow policy for the Lions Share Food Pantry is that if the Duxbury schools are closed due to bad weather conditions, the food pantry will also be closed. This will apply to tomorrow's impending bad weather and throughout the winter. No school = no food pantry.

We are so excited to share that Duxbury Lions Club has been selected to benefit from Stop & Shop Pembroke's Bloomin’ 4 Good Program, created to fight hunger across the communities they serve.

For the month of January, a $10.99 bouquet in the sleeve marked “Bloomin’ 4 Good” from the Stop & Shop in Kingston will brighten a home or make someone’s day while also directing a $1 donation to our Lions Share Food Pantry. Help us by starting off giving in 2024. Happy New Year!

The Food Pantry has an immediate need for a fill-in volunteer for a few months. We are in need of a volunteer to work at the food pantry every Friday from 4-6 pm logging in the patrons as they arrive. It's mostly a desk job, but we need someone reliable, detail-oriented, and with legible handwriting. If you or someone you know is able to help us, please send us a private message on Facebook. Fyi, the "Lions Share" food pantry will be closed tomorrow, Oct. 10th, as it is a Federal holiday. We will be open again on Friday, Oct. 14th.

HELP WANTED: We're looking for a civic-minded electrician..... When we unloaded the food donations today, we discovered that we have an electrical problem at the food pantry. Our ceiling fluorescents and outdoor light won't come on, and one of the freezers is without power. We believe a 20 amp circuit breaker failure may be the cause of the problem. We are wondering if there is an electrician who might be able to come by the food pantry ASAP - tomorrow or Monday - to look into this problem and, hopefully, fix what's wrong. We would be very grateful for any help w/this. Pls send a pm if you can help us. Thank you!

Thanks to the Duxbury community and the Duxbury postal workers for making this year's food drive such a success. We are pleased to say that we collected almost 1,000 lbs. of food for our Lions Share Food Pantry! THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!
