Our story
alpha Kappa Delta Phi was established at the University of California at Berkeley in the Fall of 1989 and recognized by the College Panhellenic Association on February 7, 1990. The founding sisters - Susan Kim, Fannie Pon, Jill Yoshimura, and Reina Yuan - dedicated themselves to establishing a strong and lasting organization which would provide Asian American women the opportunity to participate in the Greek system. Soon after being recognized by the College Panhellenic Association, the founding sisters brought together a diverse group of women who shared with them the goals of sisterhood, scholarship, and leadership. These ideals were to later set the foundation for alpha Kappa Delta Phi's purpose.
Founded November 14, 1998, alpha Kappa Delta Phi is Michigan State University's very first Asian-interest Greek Letter Organization. MSU aKDPhi was founded by 13 beautiful and strong women: Dimple Patel, Maureen Del Rosario, Marie Advincula, Heidi Balatico, Sok Be, Michelle Guevara, Olivia Huynh, Teresa Le, Bernadette Manzano, Keo Sanavongsay, Cheryl Sese, Anu Vansadia, and Claire Vital. With their hard work and dedicated hearts, MSU aKDPhi has been established with a strong foundation and still thrives stronger than ever today. Our sorority proudly promotes sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, service, and Asian Awareness, while especially encouraging the expression of the individual. We seek to make strong, independent women in society, contribute to the community as much as possible, and support our sisters in their individual and collective goals.
