Kindness is contagious; but unfortunately, so is rudeness. Make sure you’re spreading the right one.

Around 9-11pm Dilly slowly had his first meal in 48 hours and we gave the seizure medicine (that sometimes causes him to vomit) very slowly.

All was well. Until it wasn’t…

The nurse said she was just in the room he was sleeping and calm went to her other patient looked up and saw his heart rate over 170 and that I hit the nurse call button.

He had vomited. We vented his belly and a lot came out. We had to change his sheets and blankets, his trach ties, his clothes, his pillow, everything. He just got settled again.

Honestly the nurses today and tonight have been AMAZING just so incredibly sweet. The nurse tonight was saying how as a nurse she now understands we have a lot of medical knowledge but we are not God and cannot do what he can do.

Please PRAY for all the people who have been given Dillon’s story in this hospital stay. His life may be what opens their eyes to Jesus, and THAT is no doubt the purpose of his life. I can’t tell you how many times hospital staff remember getting his story from YEARS ago - I know it impacts them I just want to to be for eternity. Imagine Dillon getting to heaven one day and God shows him all the faces of the ones his life brought to Jesus…!!!!
It’s late and I am still wide awake from this little event so sorry for the long post.

Battle with pain management after this brain surgery. https://youtu.be/SEWIyqywX0Q?si=z5ASh3YNG9zoIIxv

Just talked with the surgeon, Surgery is over. They were able to do it through the small hole, everything went good. They have to do CT and transfer to the ICU before we see him.

Praise God and thank you for praying. The biggest risks now are infection and hydrocephalus so please pray against those things.

On our way for brain surgery… 🧠 👨‍⚕️
Please pray for this surgery to go well and decrease his seizures. Please pray that Dillon can be more awake and alert. (And don’t forget to pray for him to smile - not likely but I have seen a few parents say they saw a smile for the first time after this surgery) 💚💙

LOVE THIS ANALOGY:
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee?
"Because someone bumped into me!!!"
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.
So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"
When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratitude, peace and humility?
Anger, bitterness, victim mentality and quitting-tendencies?
Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.
Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.

What do you think the difference is between a peacemaker and a peacekeeper? A peacekeeper avoids conflict by sweeping the needed conversations under the rug. A peacekeeper will allow the “elephant” to stay in the room and pretend everything is fine. No need to ruffle feathers. No need to elevate the situation. Just ignore it, and we will keep the peace. But a peacemaker does the opposite. A peacemaker cares about the person and the situation enough to put the time and energy into pursuing peace with others. There is intentionality. There is a posture of learning and being for the other person. There is a desire for reconciliation and not revenge. Which is your tendency when you feel tension in the room or hurt by another person?

Being a peacemaker is not something we can do on our own. We need God’s strength, wisdom, and guidance as we converse with others. We can have confidence in knowing that we are more like Jesus when we pursue peace with others. The first step in resolving conflict God’s way is to determine that you want to become a peacemaker and not remain a peacekeeper.

Such good advice for when we feel wronged: “Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”

Happy Tuesday! Hope you are starting your day with spiritual sustenance and whole food physical nourishment! From our devotional reading today: When conflict arises in relationships, it may seem easier to avoid and withdraw, but that is not what God wants us to do to resolve conflict within churches and families. “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”

When we feel inadequate and unable to meet the demands, like we can’t do it, with Jesus we can: Jesus makes what we have, and who we are, ENOUGH. Because we were made in the image of God, Jesus can turn our not-enough into ENOUGH just like he did with 5 loaves and 2 fish that he supernaturally multiplied to feed over 15,000 people. “After this Jesus went to the other side of the Lake of Tiberias, which is also known as Lake Galilee. And a massive crowd of people followed him everywhere. They were attracted by his miracles and the healings they watched him perform. Jesus went up the slope of a hill and sat down with his disciples. As Jesus sat down, he looked out and saw the massive crowd of people scrambling up the hill, for they wanted to be near him. So he turned to Philip and said, “Where will we buy enough food to feed all these people?” Now Jesus already knew what he was about to do, but he said this to stretch Philip’s faith. Philip answered, “Well, I suppose if we were to give everyone only a snack, it would cost thousands of dollars to buy enough food!” But just then, Andrew, Peter’s brother, spoke up and said, “Look! Here’s a young person with five barley loaves and two small fish . . . but how far would that go with this huge crowd?” “Have everyone sit down,” Jesus said to his disciples. So on the vast grassy slope, more than five thousand hungry people sat down. Jesus then took the barley loaves and the fish and gave thanks to God. He then gave it to the disciples to distribute to the people. Miraculously, the food multiplied, with everyone eating as much as they wanted! When everyone was satisfied, Jesus told his disciples, “Now go back and gather up the pieces left over so that nothing will be wasted.” The disciples filled up twelve baskets of fragments, a basket of leftovers for each disciple. All the people were astounded as they saw with their own eyes the incredible miracle Jesus had performed! They began to say among themselves, “He really is the One—the true prophet we’ve been expecting!””

Tears are healing - God made them to allow us to heal. Don’t hold it in when you are in a season of sorrow and mourning. Jesus wept. If you are in a season of mourning. Really mourn, my friend. Weep. Ball your eyes out. Make sure that you squeeze everything you possibly can from that season because once it’s over, you can’t get it back. https://drjudithorloff.com/the-healing-power-of-tears/

”For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.“
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭2‬, ‭4‬, ‭8‬ ‭

”I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.” Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?“
