Many autistic people are highly empathetic and have a strong moral compass. They may become distressed by injustice and motivated to change the world for the better. Plenty of autistic people are not afraid to stand up for their beliefs and challenge things they see as unjust!

“Hi, my name’s _(YOUR NAME)_. I’m a constituent of _(REP’S NAME)_ from _(CITY)_.
I’m calling to urge, in the strongest possible terms, your office to call for an immediate Ceasefire in Gaza & to refuse to send additional weapons or funding to the Israeli military.
I will not vote for _(REP’S NAME)_ in the next election & will mobilize other voters to do the same if they continue to be complicit in the genocide against civilians in Gaza.
International human rights organizations are clear - we’re witnessing major war crimes & acts of ethnic cleansing that have already resulted in the death of _(31,000)*_ Palestinians, _(14,000)*_ of whom are children.
Voters will remember where your office stands on this. Please take immediate action to stop these atrocities.”

His name was Aaron Bushnell, he was 25 years old, and has now passed away. He made the ultimate sacrifice for Palestinians & it is our responsibility to tell his story & spread his message.
...
We need you here, advocating for Palestinians & for yourselves. His message is clear, Free Palestine!
Great idea for the ERSD schools to create a table like this for Black History Month! And then maybe we can also talk about why we need a Black History Month!

May the returned hostages find themselves enveloped in love as they begin the long journey of healing. May ALL of the hostages be released.
May the short ceasefire pave the way for a more permanent end to the inexcusable and inhumane violence on Palestinians.
May diplomacy and political engagement replace bombs and indiscriminate warfare.
May peace soon reign.

It's normal to feel all sorts of emotions in this highly troubling time, spanning from immense anxiety all the way to extreme apathy. The public arguing, the divisiveness, the political gaslighting, it can be overwhelming and exhausting. You might want to shake sense and compassion into people, however we cannot control others thoughts and emotions. Simply plant the seed and continue protesting, boycotting, calling your representatives, and taking care of your mental health so you can live to fight another day.
The idea that Palestinians being alive & free is a threat to the existence of Jewish people worldwide is one of the most racist ideas floating around today.
The same way people think, "Black Lives Matter" is hateful, translating "From the river to the sea" into something hateful is projection. They think when we demand basic human rights, that we are denying others because that's what they did.
It is this conflation between Israel and Judaism, one that is baked into the foundation of Israel and perpetuated by its leaders, that leads to the idea that Israel’s leaders represent all Jewish people, and thus by definition any criticism of Israel must be criticism of all Jewish people — and hence antisemitic. This allows accusations of antisemitism to be weaponized, particularly against people who speak up about Palestinian rights. Criticizing the Israeli government should be viewed as an act of love that could help make everyone more safe and more free. The freedom and safety of Palestinian people and Jewish people are not mutually exclusive. Refuse to believe that your safety, and the safety of your family, is dependent on oppressing and killing anyone else.
Words are important. How we construct narratives with those words usually dictate who we care about, how we care about them, and who we don't give a damn about.
ER4RJ is mourning for the people of Palestine and the Jewish community.
Please take this as an opportunity to learn about the history of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Reposting with a heavy, heavy heart. The grief right now feels immense.
I’m reminded of this poem:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

Your Jewish and your Palestinian friends need you. Yes, politics in that region are horrible. Yes, people have been treated terribly. Yes, there is much to learn about the situation that led up to this. But terror is terror. Speak up for humanity; don’t justify hate.
And don’t wait until the violence shows up in your community. Never again is now.
❗️Yesterday was Juneteenth and if you don't know much about it there's probably a reason—not only is much of Black history left out of what we (and our kids) learn in school, there's actually specific legislation aimed at making sure Black history education is left out of the curriculum! 👀
⭐️ SPECIAL NOTE: Keep in mind that the race and identity of your child are important to this conversation.
👉🏽 Parents of white children might emphasize the role of white people in the history of slavery and explain how white supremacy still shows up in our society even today.
👉🏽 Parents of Black children might focus on the more uplifting aspects of Juneteenth and Black history, perhaps by providing some inspiring Black role models or learning something new about your own family history together.
Happy Pride East Rockaway!! You deserve to be seen and loved! If you need a mom, dad, brother, or sister hug, we got you!..
P.S. Wishing all the homophobes a super uncomfortable month!

Black Americans have had a crucial role in shaping American history and advancing science, economics, technology, and culture as we know it today.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month to our Hispanic students and community members! This date was chosen because it coincides with the Independence Day celebrations of five Central American nations—Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico also celebrates its independence from Spain on September 16, 1810.
What a month for revolution! 😄
The issue isn't white people, it's white supremacy.
If you do not know how the discrimination that began with slavery continues today, a good book to start with is My Grandmother's Hands. It speaks of intergenerational trauma in black bodies, white bodies, and police bodies. But don't limit yourself to just one book. There's plenty of resources. A good Youtuber for adults is Vaush.
There is so much to celebrate during Pride Month! Pride marches, festivals, and parties are a fantastic way to get into the spirit. That said, it’s important to remember that Pride was founded to commemorate the historical Stonewall Riots and the activists who risked their lives to lead these protests.
On June 28, 1970, the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, activists in New York City held the very first Christopher Street Liberation Day March, which is known today as the Pride March.
On Oct. 13, 1979, the first National March on Washington for Le***an and Gay Rights was held in D.C. This fell 10 years after the Stonewall Riots, and about a year after the assassination of gay politician Harvey Milk. This helped bring Pride celebrations and marches to the attention of people all across the U.S.
Since then, the Pride movement has grown every year, with more and more cities and countries around the world hosting their own Pride Marches throughout the month of June.

Did you know that in 1994 President Clinton signed an assault weapons ban, which banned the AR-15 and other similiar semiautomatic rifles as well as large capacity magazines? After the ban was implemented, mass shootings were down in the decade that followed. When the ban expired in 2004, mass shootings went back up. Proving gun control works.
An ER man was recently arrested for threatening to shoot up a children's hospital. He had guns and ammo.
An ERHS student was recently suspended for a social media post claiming "the g***k" in her dad's closet "says you're not bulletproof".
Mental healthcare and gun control are not mutually exclusive. We must fight for both. Do it for the kids!
Let's move forward. Not backwards.
It's clear from last nights "Meet the Candidates" that NONE of the candidates have done their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion homework.
Queda claro en el "Conozca a los Candidatos" de anoche que NINGUNO de los candidatos ha hecho su tarea de Diversidad, Equidad e Inclusión.
If you missed it, you can watch on YouTube. The worst part was around the 28-34 minute mark.
Si te lo perdiste, puedes verlo en YouTube. La peor parte fue alrededor de la marca de 28-34 minutos.
