Empowered Steps: Dancing with Aphasia and Brain Injury
Join us for a fun and free movement class at the University of Texas at El Paso! Thursdays 5:00 p.m.. Lisa Smith Bandy is a dancer, choreographer & teacher.
She founded Empowered Steps El Paso to help the brain-injured and aphasic rediscover movement and grace.
Our first dance for aphasia class was a great success! Thanks to all of the organizers and participants! Hopefully, we'll be able to offer another course soon. Meanwhile, check out the coverage on our local El Paso station:
El Paso stroke survivors use dance to heal physically and emotionally - Lisa Smith is a retired UTEP Dance Program Director. She developed a dance workshop after she experience a stroke of her own.
