We are proud and honored to share that a newly renovated Annunciation House has reopened! Annunciation House is sincerely grateful to the thousands of individuals who made this renovation a reality. It was a collaborative work made possible by a broad community of friends, donors, volunteers, and supporters; it simply would not have been possible without those who so generously offered their time and resources. Your gifts have allowed us to transform Annunciation House into a magnificent place for refugeesโ€”one in which the dignity of each person who is received in our house is reflected in the beauty of our renovated space.

Annunciation Houseโ€™s original building is over 100 years old, and it has housed our guests for the entirety of our history. As the building aged, we grew increasingly concerned about keeping the house up to code and ensuring that it was a safe place for our guests, volunteers, and the community. To address this reality, Annunciation House undertook a two-year process of renovations: ensuring that the building is fully up to code, and rebuilding it at every level, from the basement to the second story.

The house is now fully compliant with all building codes as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act. We have taken care to ensure that bathrooms are fully accessible to people who use wheelchairs and walkers, moved the kitchen and dining area to the first floor, and have ample dormitory space for people with disabilities. This has been particularly necessary at this time, as Annunciation House now serves as the primary receiving point for the rapidly increasingly numbers of people who have been injured by the border wall and border policies that cause physical harm to people in migration. We are thankful that the renovations have allowed us to provide
