***LATE POST***

It’s that time again. We are getting out and feeding our homeless on December 23, 2020. We will be out and about making sure we get to feed as many of our homeless as possible (our goal is 200 or more). With the continued generosity of Foods Co (W. Stockton Blvd location), Elk Grove Costco and now Safeway (Laguna location) we will be able to provide hot meals again. Ms Kitty has once again volunteered her time and cooking skills in making this venture happen.

We are small but mighty and we are doing our part in alleviating hunger and homelessness. Our fight will continue until we can stomp out hunger and homelessness.

~UPDATE~
Due to the rising concerns of COVID-19, it was highly recommended by the health department that we postpone our event today to feed the homeless. However, we will not let this stop our efforts into stomping out hunger and homelessness. We will postpone until January 15, 2021. We will continue to build up our stock of warm clothing and hygiene kits and hope to provide them as well. We would like to thank all of our contributors and volunteers for their generosity and ensure that their efforts will not be in vain.

Hello everybody,
We are very excited to present our Inaugural Thanksgiving Meal Drive.
This was our first event as a community resource for Elk Grove and the Greater Sacramento area. We are very honored to have had the opportunity to serve a hot meal to our disadvantaged. First of all, we would like to thank God for the opportunity that has been bestowed upon us to provide this type of service.
Times have been hard, especially due to COVID-19. Although, homelessness has been an issue for a very long time, this issue has increased, and this pandemic only make circumstances worst. We felt the least that we could do is come together and give a meal to those who are unable to make do for themselves. Giving has been a part of our DNA. Our parents and grandparents had come up poor but was always finding a way to make sure anybody they knew did not go hungry. We saw them make phone calls and gather food to give or make meals. We would like to keep this type of generosity alive.
Today, the hot meals we served brought about great joy and heartfelt smiles. Our hearts are overflowed with JOY. All this was made possible through the generous donations from Elk Grove Costco and the Foods Co. located on W. Stockton Blvd. These two great companies came through for us and helped us tremendously (not to mentioned that we reached out to them last minute). They made some things happen. We would like to give a special S/O to Mrs. Kitty, who donated her time to make the meals and serve. Mrs. Kitty has been doing this type of service for some years and we are thankful she allowed us to add on and form a collaboration. We are hopeful that we can continue servicing together for years to come. We also would like to thank Brittney G. for making our shirts in a timely manner. We would also like to thank Tonika W., Lattisse B. and Miss Black Sacramento 2020, Aaliyah A., who graced us with her presence and handed out meals as well. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. You and so many others who made this possible are deeply appreciated.
The event was a success and we only intend to grow and feed even more as this event continues or until we can alleviate homelessness or get this issue under some type of control.
SRCF would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. We sincerely wish you all the best the holiday season has to offer and remember, this is the season of giving, but do not give COVID-19. (lol) Wear your masks and stay six feet apart. ‘Til next year……….
P.S.
We are already prepping for a Christmas event in which we will be creating and handing out warm clothing and hygiene kits. We know that this may not be a lot of time, but we just want to be able to provide something, no matter how big or small. If interested in donating monetary, items or time, please contact us at [email protected] or leave a message on this post.
