The grandkids wanted donuts for breakfast...so we made gluten-free donuts so grandma could have some too. Persephone picked out the shapes and did the decorating. They were awesome!! I haven't had a donuts is so long.

We got 2 new piggies for the farm today. Welcome...1 is a girl and I may just keep her and start a breeding program this way I would have 2 girls, but we'll see how she turns out. She's sweet so.... the other will become bacon, chops, roasts,& sausage. Let us know if your looking.

I signed up for a gluten free cooking course and been enjoying all the things I haven't eaten in some time. I'm probably going to gain 50 # but at least it taste amazing!! I have a cottage license and will be offering up baked goods as I get better.

They chicks have arrived!!! These little things will become 5-7 # birds for eating!! Yummy pasture raised birds. We move them to new grass everyday once they are a couple weeks old. The tractors are ready to go with new tarps. Who wants chicken??? Let me know and I'll add you to the list.

It's about time I figure this out!!! 100% gluten free sourdough bread & it's not gummy and tastes great.!!! Will be doing a few more batches just to fine tune it. Then I'll be offering them up for sale!! Yes I have a cottage license.

When you see me, remember that I'm the ONLY one who wants and can grow in that particular spot. Because:
Either the soil is too compact / hard / stomped and I want to loosen it for you with my roots.
Or there is too little calcium in the soil - don't worry, I will replenish that for you with the dying of my leaves.
Or the soil is too acidic. But I will also improve that for you if you give me the chance.
Or a mixture of the above reasons, of course. 😊
I'm here because your soil needs my help so best you let me grow without disturbing me! When everything is fixed, I will disappear again, I promise!
Are you trying to remove me prematurely with my root? However meticulous you are, I will return 2x as strong! Just until your soil is improved.
You can even tell by my growth at which stage my help is at. If my leaves are flat on the ground then I'm far from ready but if they all reach up then I'm already a long way on my way.
Something completely different is that I am 1 of the first bloomers in spring so I will announce spring / summer for you.
During the day when it's hot, I open my flowers but in the evening when it cools off I close them again quickly. In fact, if it's not hot enough during the day I won't open them at all!
My flowers are even delicious for you people by the way, did you know? I used to be called ′′honey (or gold) of the poor′′ because my flowers are so sweet in e.g. jam, sauce or salad! The internet is full of recipes - check them out.
But wait until the end of May or later before you start picking and even then, don't pick everything yet! The biodiversity and bees will be very grateful!”

Well I did a class on some gluten free baking and it was fun. It was 3 days for about 2 hrs each day. Which is hard to find the time but thankfully it was recorded so I could stop and start as needed. Learned a few new things. Frosting is not my greatest skill yet but I'm sure if I spent time and got the right equipment I sure could become pretty good.

Duck Eggs V’s Chicken Eggs

Duck eggs are larger in size than chicken eggs. The whites in chicken eggs have a higher water content (more runny) than the whites in duck eggs. Duck eggs have larger yolks and a higher yolk-to-white-ratio than chicken eggs.

We have both. Yes, they are different from eachother so I am gunna break it down quick:

Duck eggs are GREAT for baking

Chicken eggs have thinner shells

Duck eggs are larger and richer than chicken eggs

Chickens are prolific layers year around if taken care of correctly but ducks are as well with much less light necessity

Duck eggs stay fresh longer because of their insanely thick shell

Duck eggs contain 30% more protein, and a different type of protein that chicken eggs so if allergic to chicken eggs, most can eat duck and visa versa.

Ounce for ounce, duck eggs contain more Omega-3, Vitamins A and D, fatty acids, choline, folate, and iron than chicken eggs.

I use duck eggs in gluten free baking cause the create a better "hold" & more moisture. So come get some and give them a try!!

Welcome our newest twins!! Kalani and Kai... Waddles and babies are doing great. I guess we were all off on the amount of babies!! But they are nice sized and healthy.

Unwashed and not refrigerated so they can stay out on counter out of direct sunlight for a month or put in fridge for up to 3 months, waterless them for winter usage when the ladies slow down on laying. Hey teachers and daycares, Best of Both Worlds Farm is doing this again! I did this last yr for a bunch of schools and daycares. It worked great kids loved it. Reach out to me if you want to hatch eggs for your classrooms. I'll donate the eggs (I do not provide the incubators) and take all babies back. We have chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guinea hens,who dont lay til may. Could do 2 batches of different bird so they get to see how different eggs hatch and the differences between them. I'm located just outside elk river.
