The Elmhurst Park District Board of Park Commissioners voted unanimously to give residents the choice to fund high-priority projects identified by the community through a referendum on the November 5, 2024 ballot. The proposed projects not only meet the needs identified by the community but they also significantly enhance the quality of life for all residents. Learn more at EPD.org/referendum

The neighborhood came to play last Saturday during the ribbon cutting at Pick Park’s new playground! Board Commissioners and Park District staff held a short ceremony before inviting attendees to explore the park. Situated along the Salt Creek Greenway Trail at 151 Monterey Avenue, Pick Park boasts not only a playground, but amenities for all ages, including fitness equipment, game tables and a shade shelter. It’s the perfect day to spend time in nature! Head to Eldridge Park for adventure day! Take part in a fishing derby, get an airbrush tattoo, do a bug hunt, pet some animals, play some games, and then stop by one of our food trucks to purchase some delicious food! We will be here until noon today!

Did you know it has been more than 50 years since the last Park District referendum? Much of the Park District’s present land was purchased at that time, along with new park development. With aging facilities, high program waitlists and building spaces that do not align with the community's needs, additional funding is necessary to address current community priorities. Did you know the Park District’s tax rate comprises only a nickel of every dollar? The dollar graphic below illustrates the portion of a single dollar the District receives versus other taxing bodies, such as Elmhurst School District #205, the City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst Public Library, College of DuPage, York, and Addison Townships, etc. The District cannot complete large-scale priorities with the current level of property taxes levied and existing debt capacity limits.
