Take The Reins
Harnessing the power of the horse to change and improve lives" Non-profit Therapeutic riding program in development in Auburn, Wa.
Throwback Thursday!
For many years we ran Helping Hooves Equine Therapy in California. With Covid and moving to Washington, we put a hold on the therapy program. It has been a plan to start a similar program back up here in Washington, so please stay tuned for more details on our new program Take the Reins at our new location in Auburn, WA.
Below is an article written for the OC Register about our previous program. 🐴

Offered for consideration:
2019 mare "Shadow"- RTR Stylish Justice (Judge Boon LTE $65k+ x Stylish Rosie LTE $102k). https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rtr+stylish+justice.
This mare has a mind and heart of gold. She has a ton of athletic potential, is in her prime and her level head just makes her even more amazing to work with. This also makes her super non-pro friendly! She is all business at new places, hauls easy and has a quiet confidence on a cow. Has chased buffalo a few times. She is a beautiful mover and would also excel in all the ranch horse events or would even make a killer barrel horse. She'd be fun in any program.
I'd love to find her her perfect match and would be thrilled to keep her in the barn. Will continue to be ridden and shown. Sound in every way.

We are proud to announce our new trainer Ann Simon!
Ann grew up in Bellingham, Washington on her parent’s small farm. Her father a retired farrier of 30+ years and mother a life-long horsewomen, Ann has been riding horses since before she can remember. She competed through her young life in as many different events as she could from Western and English pleasure to reining, rodeo drill and barrel racing/gaming with whatever horse she was able to at the time. She also learned to start colts at the age of 14. She began working with a local reining trainer as a teen and fell in love with the training, discipline and mentality it took to train those horses. After high school, Ann moved to Orange County, CA. She started working at the Anaheim Hills Saddle Club in 2009 teaching western and therapeutic lessons (PATH Int'l Certified) and training horses. During that time she received a degree in Business Management while also studying under reining trainers throughout Southern California.
In 2015, Ann and her husband Matt moved north to Fairfield, CA. Ann spent the next six years working for and learning from leading reining, cowhorse and cutting trainers as well as traveling to work with multiple training legends in Northern CA. She also continued to train, teach and compete in reining and cowhorse events and futurities. In 2019, in addition to competing in the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity limited open division, Ann also competed in the Wild Spayed Filly Futurity. This was a televised reined cow competition where competitors were supposed to have 12 months to train their wild mustang and return to compete in their own division. Ann’s young mustang Sienna did very well only having 4 ½ months of riding on her at the time of the competition after her first filly was deemed unsound for the competition.
Last year, Ann and her husband Matt decided to accept a job opportunity in Western Washington, back toward their roots and closer to family in Auburn, WA.
Recently, Ann and her crew found a barn home at Green Valley Stable. Ann plans to continue teaching, training, showing and learning from other equine professionals.
Ann is available for training and lessons at Green Valley Stable!

Out with the old and in with the new! New arena footing will be getting installed this week.
All of the old dirt will be removed, the ground will be laser leveled, a new base layer will be installed and then a new layer of high quality arena sand will be installed.
The process should take about a week and the arena will not be available to use during this time.
The work will start sometime this week weather permitting.
Thank you for your patience during this process.

Chocolate Chip is ADORABLE!
8 yr old 13 hand gelding
What a great little pony, he’s safe and sane. He puts himself naturally in a frame and holds it. He has a nice walk, trot and canter and will keep a consistent pace. We have started him over fences recently and he really seems to enjoy it. He has zero spook, buck or rear. He loads like a dream, loves to be in the arena or out of the arena. He’s not buddy sour. He will ride out on his own or in a group the same. Safe enough for any age rider, but will try a pony trick here and there if allowed to. The only thing we have seen him do naughty is pull his head down.
PENDING 3 days later, he's pending! Here's a nice AQHA gelding!
Freckles 15 year old AQHA gelding.
Freckles is a fun, sweet guy that is game for anything. He stands tied, bathes, loads and hauls well and is great for the farrier. Freckles is fun to ride and happy to work and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Freckles has a great deal of training in him, he neck reins and side passes. Absolutely no buck, rear, etc. We have been riding him in just a little S hackamore because he was tilting his head with a bit in so we believe he could use a dental. Even without a bit he is very responsive and has a beautiful natural headset. He is not a plug and likes to move out when asked, but is gentle enough to be suitable for a youth step up horse. He is very versatile and would do well in Wahset/4-h and would also be a great, trusty trail/obstacle course partner. In the video is the first time we had introduced him to the obstacles and opened a gate on him and he didn’t even bat an eye. Freckles is ready to go do a job and is looking for a partner that wants to go have some fun and do some work!
Priced in the mid/high 4 digits beginning with a 7
In the video the girl riding him is 5’7”
To schedule a showing for Freckles, please EMAIL us at [email protected] Freckles is consigned with Green Valley Stables, Jessica is his assigned rider.

Happy New Year everyone! Here's what we can look forward to in the new year... Many of the "pastures" will become turn out for the horses in stalls allowing them more time out with a larger space to run and play... We can't spill all the secrets in one post so stay tuned. Rest assured we have big plans for 2022! We kinda think you're going to like them!
BRRRRR... it's cold outside! We have the water at the barn turned off so that we don't freeze pipes. Extra water buckets are in each stall and being filled by the staff. Sorry for any inconvenience... we will have it back on as soon as the temperatures warm up a bit!
We are excited to say that our little Cinderella has found her new home in Texas as part of the mounted police team! Here is a photo of her upcoming teammates. What a special place for a special horse!
