KWC Alert Regarding Phone Fraud

The Ko-Kwel Wellness Center has received a report that at least one patient has received a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be from the “Medicare Support Team”. The incoming caller ID was listed as a KWC-Coos Bay phone number. This is a scam and potential threat called ‘spoofing’. If you receive a call claiming to be from the “Medicare Support Team”, immediately hang up.

What Is Spoofing?
Spoofing is when a Spammer deliberately falsifies a caller ID display to disguise their identity. Scammers often use spoofing so it appears that an incoming call is coming from a company or a government agency that you may already know and trust. If you answer, they use scam scripts to try to steal your money or valuable personal information, which can be used in fraudulent activity.

How to Protect Yourself
• Medicare will never call you uninvited and ask you for personal or private information
• If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide any sensitive information, and hang up
• If a caller claims to represent KWC or Medicare, simply hang up. You can then call back using a phone number on an account statement or their official website to verify the caller's authenticity.

The CIT Pharmacy will be closing at 3pm on Thursday, March 14th for inventory. Please call in your prescription refill requests in advance of the closures to ensure prompt service. If you need an acute medication fill during the CIT Pharmacy closure and you have Nasomah Health Group, please take your prescription to the nearest Walgreens pharmacy. If you have PRC, you may take your prescription the pharmacy of your choice. Thank you!

MyChart Patient Portal Premieres in April

On April 2, 2024, Ko-Kwel Wellness Centers (KWC) will transition to Epic and MyChart, which is a state-of-the-art electronic health record (EHR) and patient portal that will significantly improve the patient experience at our KWC locations.

We will be hosting a theatre style celebration for our patients April 2-12 during business hours. Come in for a stroll on the red carpet, enjoy a bag of popcorn, create your MyChart account, and log in for the first time.

Please provide a little extra time during April when checking into your appointments at KWC as staff become familiar with using these powerful new health tools.
