During the first two weekends in June my jewelry studio was open to the public for a special event - North Coast Open Studios. NCOS is a community art affair when artists from all over Humboldt County open their creative spaces to the public, allowing visitors a look into their studios and creative process. This year over 150 artists participated in this event and I am very proud to have been one of them. It was my pleasure to welcome guests to my studio and share my jewelry creations. I enjoyed seeing my neighbors and friends, and getting to know new acquaintances. I was very happy to share information about my jewelry making journey and offer demonstrations of my silversmithing process. The response and the support I received from my visitors has been heartwarming and very encouraging. It also energized me and motivated me to be more creative and work on new designs and ideas. Thank you so much for showing your support and for taking the time to visit my studio. I am very grateful!
It's been a while since I posted on this page but life, especially last year, has kept me very busy and away from my work bench. In between routine duties and responsibilities our family faced numerous challenges and difficulties, but we also enjoyed many special occasions, good times, and fun adventures. And, I still managed to find some time to be creative. As I was composing this short video, I realized how much we all need positive things to keep us charged up and motivated, and special moments with family and friends to keep our spirits lifted. I hope for many good things this year and renewed energy to be creative. Thank you for your support!
Among the many recent projects in the studio, this one was really fun to make. đ Happy Spring! đş

Itâs been a long time since I posted anything on this page but life kept me busy and away from my studio and my projects. Between taking care of my health, busy holiday season, school functions, and a trip to visit my family, there just wasnât much time left for creativity. I am hopeful that this spring brings me renewed energy and fun ideas for new designs. Here is a sneak peek at my recent finds - little bird cabochons. So cute!
I hope you have a nice and sunny season!
Lately I have been wanting to send a message through some of my work and include a few words in order to create a connection between a piece of jewelry I create and the person who may wear it. Here is my latest pendant featuring a little bird in flight; I call it a free spirit. There are many characteristics of a free spirit: independent, fearless, passionate, has strong values and opinions, has a big heart, lives with intention, just to list a few. I want to think that a little bit of each of these characteristics lives in all of us. And even though we may not be naturally born with them, maybe we acquire some of them through lifeâs journey to becoming our own version of a free spirit. Perhaps a free spirit lives in you?

âlike a lotus flower we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the worldâ
This pendant was inspired by the unique and beautiful lotus flower. This flower has an unparalleled resilience and ability to survive in difficult conditions and that is why it became a symbol of rebirth, strength and beauty.

Normally, I try to balance my time between my jewelerâs bench and my painting desk. For the last few months, my jewelry projects kept me away from painting. Recently though I was able to spend a little time with my paints and brushes. Here is my opal rendering on vellum.
Itâs been a while since I sat at my jewelerâs bench and Iâve missed it. This is my latest creation. I think this design was inspired by all the paints from my rendering class. This ring is a lovely play of colors, bright shimmering of greens and blues. My favorite colors. â¤ď¸ www.annaweeksjewelry.com
As I continue with my jewelry rendering passion, I am finding it more and more fascinating. From the initial free hand sketch to the finished detailed painting, it feels like I am diving into the depths of a gemstone. It can be a several hour task but achieving that brilliant diamond sparkle on paper is extremely rewarding.
The new year started quietly in my studio. I finally had time to do some clean up, and to reorganize and evaluate the inventory. I was also able to return to my jewelry rendering classes which I had to put on hold last year. Drawing and coloring was always my passion and I am so glad that I found a way to tie it to my jewelry fabrication. Here is a look at my recent drawings. Take care and stay well!
