I started my journey reluctant to embrace the "softer" side of yoga. Slowly, with patience, i began to understand that breathe & meditation are just as important as movement. So, my goal is to help you stay with your practice, get through the parts you find sticky and, hopefully, find some peace & joy along the way.

Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga share similarities in their slow-paced nature and focus on long-held poses, yet they differ significantly in intention and methodology.
Yin Yoga targets deep connective tissues and fascia, aiming to increase flexibility and joint mobility through passive postures held for extended periods, often ranging from 3 to 5 minutes.
On the other hand, Restorative Yoga is centered around complete relaxation and recovery. Using a variety of props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks, it aims to fully support the body in each pose, promoting deep relaxation and healing typically held for even longer periods, sometimes up to 20 minutes, facilitating a profound release of tension and stress.
Both are fabulous practices and in the hands of well-trained, experienced teachers can provide amazing results both physically & mentally. Be sure to try both to see which suits your current needs and don't be afraid to ask questions.

I wear no uniforms, no blues or army greens.
But I am in the military in the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders, salutes I do not give.
But the military world is the place where I live.
I'm not in the chain of command, orders I do not get.
But my husband is the one who does, this I cannot forget.
I'm not the one who fires the weapon, who puts my life on the line.
But my job is just as tough. I'm the one that's left behind.
My husband is a patriot, a brave and prideful man, And the call to serve his country, not all can understand.
Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep this country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do our kids and me.
I love the man I married. Patriotism is his life.
But I stand among the silent ranks known as the military wife.
Can't wait to see you on Wednesday the 8th!! I will be covering the whole morning๐8am Basic Training, 9am Chisel & Burn AND 10am Roll It Out- we WILL be using the roller so bring yours along!

Let's talk about it.. Yoga is not a style of practice. Yoga is a journey, a philosophy, a way of thinking & being.
The word Yoga has become a catch all for everything from the most basic flow to the many fusion-styles and even simple stretch classes ( that aren't actually yoga at all) - as such, it has created a LOT of confusion.
The word Yoga means Divine Union from the Sanskrit root verb yuj (to yoke, join or unite.) It is a practice that uses postures, pranyama (breathing) & meditation to harmonize body and mind. And includes many styles from the most restoring- restorative- to the highly sweaty & vigorous- Ashtanga/Power Vinyasa.
It's important to learn what speaks to you, try different classes - keeping in mind most teachers don't write the class description๐ซค, and keep practicing. I hope this helps clear some confusion & gets you on your mat.
