🐾🌟 It’s $5 Friday! 🌟🐾
How much is this puppy’s life worth? That is the question we confronted each day for 9 heart wrenching days! We had our toughest parvo case yet, but also a story of resilience and survival.
On Saturday, May 4th, we were notified about a sick community puppy named ShyShy. Suspecting parvo, we quickly sent an employee to pick him up and take him to the emergency vet. Our fears were confirmed: ShyShy had parvo and was in critical condition. At the vet’s recommendation, we hospitalized him and authorized the costly but effective canine parvovirus monoclonal antibody treatment.
By Monday, ShyShy was showing signs of improvement, but needed continued hospitalization. We picked him up, but had no vet appointment. After pleas to partner vets, we were grateful that our partner vet answered our plea. Dr. Yu at U-Vet agreed to continue the hospitalization and treatment. By Wednesday, ShyShy seemed ready for release but then took a turn for the worse. We learned that he had also gotten into dirty water before his rescue and that could be causing secondary issues. But, his wagging tail and big brown eyes gave us hope and told us that he wanted to continue to fight. Facing daily hospitalization costs of about $1,000 each day, we struggled with the decision. We are a nonprofit. What would our villagers want us to do? This we know - our villagers would tell us to keep fighting for him. It's what we do for those who have no one else to fight for them. So, that is what we did. We got you ShyShy, keep fighting little guy! We authorized a second round of canine parvovirus monoclonal antibody treatment.
A late Saturday night phone call from Dr. Yu told us that the second round of monoclonal antibodies seemed to be working. On Sunday morning, Dr. Yu called us ecstatic- ShyShy was eating and had solid p**p! It worked! We were overjoyed to learn Monday that he was well enough to be released! So, after 9 days of hospitalization, he survived! Every day was a fight, and every small sign of improvement was a victory. No one was happier to be released than ShyShy! From wagging his tail to eating his first solid meal, ShyShy showed us what true resilience looks like.
We are grateful to the amazing vet teams who worked so hard to save him. But, all that work and treatment comes with a cost. How much is a puppy’s life worth? In ShyShy’s case, $12,719. With our rescue discounts, the ER vet bill was $4457 and a week of hospitalization was $8862. To date, we have raised $1813 for his treatment, leaving $10,906 to cover. We know that is a lot! Did we make the right decision in saving ShyShy? We hope so. We're asking for your support with a $5 donation (or more if you can!) to help cover the costs of ShyShy's lifesaving treatment and hospitalization. Will you consider a donation of $5 or more to help us cover the vet bills to save little ShyShy's life?

**ShyShy has spent this week in a temporary medical foster home for observation and he is now well enough to find another foster home!! If you are interested in fostering, please complete a foster application at ITVrescue.org. More photos in the comments below!
ShyShy has survived Parvo and has extensive medical bills due to overnight stays at the emergency vet as well as U-Vet Animal Clinic. He received great care at UVet and will soon be ready for a foster or forever home. ShyShy was surrendered to It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue due to having Parvo and they committed to getting him the care he needed. These photos of him are from his ride back to ITV after being released.
We will be helping cover his medical expenses and would appreciate your help. If you can donate to ShyShy’s care, please visit our website, www.daisysnb.com. Thank you for your continued generosity.
Dixie and Peggy are from a litter of 9 week old hound mixes pulled from a shelter in KY last Wednesday by Another Chance for Animals. After getting into a foster home, Dixie began throwing up and became lethargic. She is currently staying at a local veterinary office and being treated for Parvo. Peggy is doing better but is currently being treated for Parvo as well.
We will be helping with their medical bills and are asking for your support. If you are able and willing, you can make donations for their care at www.daisysnb.com. Thank you for your continued generosity that allows these dogs to get the fresh start they deserve.
Vivian needs our help. Vivian is a bulldog mix currently being fostered by a great home for New Hope Animal Rescue. Vivian was rescued by New Hope after living in a rabbit cage on stilts outside. She could barely stand or walk at the time of rescue. Due to the damage from the wire floor of the rabbit cage she had to have her paw pads sewn back on. She also suffers from arthritis and a severe lack of muscle strength. We will be raising funds to allow Vivian to benefit from aquatic therapy in an effort to improve her mobility.
Vivian is super sweet, gets along with cats and other dogs, loves belly rubs and car rides. She was failed miserably by her previous owners and deserves the fresh start she is currently enjoying.
Donations for Vivian can be made at www.daisysnb.com. Your continued generosity allows dogs like Vivian an opportunity to live out their lives in a loving home. Thank you for your continued support.

Update: Audrey is out of surgery and recovering. The vet says her prognosis is good. 🙂
Update: Audrey made it through the night and she is now stable enough for surgery to remove the deceased puppy. The situation is still dire, but she is fighting to survive. Thank you to everyone who has donated to her care! Also, thanks to St Joe Veterinary Hospital for taking wonderful care of her. She could use some good vibes sent her way as she has surgery this morning!
Audrey was surrendered to It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue after already giving birth to a litter. Unfortunately, there was one pup left inside. The fight now is to get her strong enough to survive the surgery to remove the deceased puppy left undelivered.
We will be helping ITV with Audrey’s medical expenses. Please help us by donating at www.daisysnb.com. Your generous and continued support changes the world for this dog and so many others.

🚨 URGENT APPEAL FOR DONATIONS 🚨
Audrey, a recent addition to our rescue, is fighting for her life. 😢 She came to us in desperate need, and we've discovered she's battling a severe illness – with at least one precious puppy lost inside her. 💔 We've rushed her to St Joe Veterinary Hospital where our friends are prepared to perform emergency surgery and provide crucial treatment. However, the estimated cost to save Audrey's life is up to $5000. 😞
Without hesitation, we've authorized the treatment and surgery to give her a fighting chance. 🙏 We believe every animal, regardless of their past, deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life – just like those who are cherished by a loving family.
But we can't do this alone. We urgently need your support to cover Audrey's medical expenses. 🌟 Your donation, no matter how small, could make all the difference in her survival. Together, we can give Audrey the chance she deserves.
Please consider donating and sharing Audrey's story. Every contribution counts and brings us one step closer to saving her life. 🐾

Genghis is a very loving and extremely social dog. His inability to see does not slow him down at all. He plays well with other dogs and gives hugs that will melt your heart.
Genghis is currently being fostered at Daisy's Pet Playground for It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue. Genghis is heart worm positive and we will be helping pay for his treatments. Genghis would greatly benefit from having a calm home to live in while he goes through the treatment for heart worms. If you are interested in fostering or adopting him, please complete an application at www.itvrescue.org.
