HOW TO BE SURE YOUR AVOCADO IS RIPE
Give the flesh a soft squeeze, and it should yield to moderate pressure. However, sometimes a soft avocado is actually bruised. Since there's nothing more disappointing than slicing into a browned avocado, there's another way of testing for ripeness. Remove the small brown stem off the top of the avocado. If it comes off easily and you can see green underneath it, the avocado is ripe! If the stem doesn't come off or if you see brown, the avocado is not ripe.

Healthy Tip:
A smoothie can cover a multitude of needs. Throw a banana (you can keep them in the freezer for weeks) into your blender along with frozen berries, kiwi or whatever fruit is around, some orange or other 100% juice, some fat-free or low-fat yogurt. You can get 4–5 servings of fruit in one glass of yummy shake.

For this week's Chocolate-Dipped Sticks 'n' Twigs, you can use regular gluten-free pretzels or sticks 'n' twigs by Mary's Gone Crackers. If you're in a rush, just dip the pretzel into the melted chocolate, just like a dip or fondue and eat immediately. So simple, but so delicious. Enjoy!
After working with garlic, rub your hands vigorously on your stainless steel sink for 30 seconds before washing them. It will remove the odor.
This week's Gfree menus have two with hamburger buns: Filet of Fish Hoagies and Super Sliders. Here's a tip from Carol Fenster: When reheating gluten-free buns, be sure to do it on very low power in the microwave. I use 10% power and 10-second increments so I don't overdo it. If you "zap" these buns with very high heat, they become hard the instant they cool.
