🎊🫶As of June 1st 2024, Suki's has been serving this beautiful 💛Golden Heart of Alaska for 20 years in the same location and with the same owner family.
🇰🇷🇺🇲Suki was born in Seoul, South Korea and became an American Citizen in 1984. Although she enjoyed traveling all over the world, it wasn't until moving to Alaska that she could pursue her passion.
💇‍♀️💈As a licensed Instructor, Suki has proudly mentored, taught, and licensed so many hairdressers, barbers, and estheticians who have gone to open their own shops all over the United States. Suki is grateful to be able to make countless people feel beautiful these past 23 years.
🪖😍Her late husband, Francis Paul Burke (currently laid to rest behind President Taft at Arlington National Cemetary), was a decorated and twice purple heart Vietnam Veteran with 47 years of Government service. He believed our veterans should always be remembered and taken care of and since it's founding, our small family business has strived to do so. In his honor, we will continue to do so and have extended it to our local law enforcement and first responders.

💯😊Thank you to everyone that had patiently waited for haircuts this past week (often up to 6 hours). We are so happy our waitlist system was able to prevent a lot of wait in our shop. The wait times should go back to a normal amount of busy with most of the "back to school" haircuts and "coming back from vacation" haircuts done. It was wonderful seeing the hundreds of your beautiful faces.
💈⏰️ We are so happy that so many of you are enjoying and taking advantage of our earlier hours to get your haircuts done. ✅️Please remember even though our waitlist closes at 4:15pm or the waitlist widget closes because there are 40+ people still waiting close to closing, we will still see everyone already waitlisted. This means you do not have to worry about being seen as we will stay after hours for you. We have been pulling some very late hours this past week.

Our Barber/Stylist David & Lisa helped paint their kid's art for the Tanana Valley Watershed Assoc. 2023 Storm Drain Art Contest. Lincoln (age 9) and Oliver (age 6) theme was "It's Hard to Find a Good Planet!"🎨 ❤️ It's part of the downtown beautification process and to help prevent people from polluting our local waters by throwing trash or chemicals down the storm drain. It can be found on 2nd Avenue near Big Daddy's BBQ. 👏😍

📣Friendly reminder for the waitlist, please show up within 20 minutes of your text that it is almost your turn and write "I'm here." The first text just shows your place in line. Please DO NOT show up earlier that receiving this text saying it is almost your turn, as we have many hour wait times. The list, whether signed up online or the shop kiosk, is the same list and you will not have priority for waiting in the shop.
⛔️If the waitlist shows "widget inactive" then there are too many people on the list. Please do not come to the shop as our online kiosk will be turned off as well. Thank you for making our shop so popular.

In 2019, We Are 15 Years in Business!

As of 2019, Suki has been a hair artist for 20 years now. Suki was born in South Korea and immigrated and became an American Citizen in 1984. Suki is an Instructor in Hair, Esthetics, and Nail (soon Barber). Suki is very proud to have either instructed or employed many women who now run their own business in the hair industry. The business, Suki’s Alaska Salon & Esthetic has been locally owned and operated in the same location since July of 2004. Her husband, Francis Burke, was double retired from government service with 2 Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star with “V” for valor. As a veteran family owned and operated business, Suki takes pride in offering a large military discount, as well as a discount for local police and state troopers. She is also proud that the business is fully women-led.

There are 3 ladies working at Suki’s. All 3 ladies work 6 days a week. Lisa is licensed in Hairdresser, Barber, Tattoo/Permanent Cosmetic Coloring, Esthetics and soon will be adding Nail and Instructor this year. She has a B.S. Degree from UAF in Biological Sciences with a focus on Pre-Medicine. Lisa is the only first generation American on her mom’s side of the family. Julie has over 17 years in the hair industry with celebrity clientele back in S. Korea. She loves doing women’s hair, upstyling, eyelash extensions, facials, and is also amazing with men’s hair. Julie has been a great blessing to our shop rounding our shop out to offer the very best to the community.

We have staff that is fluent in English, Korean, and Japanese. Each lady has their strong points and we are continuing to grow to improve the services provided to the Interior. South Korea is a leader in the beauty industry and we continue to bring products and services from there not previously offered in the community.

This year we have and are continuing to expand our services. Not only are we some of the leaders in the community for hair services and esthetics, but we are also adding straight razor fades/shaves, as well as permanent cosmetic coloring. Lash lifts which were big over 20 years ago in Korea and are now becoming big in the United States. It is another service that we will be providing soon with Korean products. This year we will be making huge esthetic improvements to our humble salon. We are so proud that our regulars have been so loyal to us and we are giving back with a weekly giveaway this year. We are so grateful to be as busy as we are without having a formal sign outside and without advertising. You, our loyal customers is what gives us energy to work 6 days a week and on most holidays.
