I have to make some changes, effective to bookings created July 4th on.

Cancellations are very high right now, which is understandable— the weather is gorgeous and we all have better things to do than be indoors painting nails. 😜

I try to be super flexible and accommodating and will continue to be, but I have to make some tweaks to allow me to continue to do that.

1. 48 hours cancellation notice required or 20% fee may apply. (Used to be 24 hours.)

2. If you ask me to fit you in after hours and I am able to accommodate you, a $50 after hours fee will apply.

3. First time bookings that are canceled instead of rescheduled will be charged a $10 fee, to deter people who aren’t serious from holding slots. This doesn’t apply to recurring clients, only first timers.

I’ll be honest, I had a rough day. I suffer from Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. (I know, what a mouthful.) I was totally bedbound for 5 years in my 20s and have been limping along half-bedridden since.

It’s easier, and less scary, to pretend to be normal. To present a strong front as a capable, healthy businessperson. Keep my business persona and my illness separate. Don’t let anyone see me sweat.

But I’m committed to not doing that, because I want to use my platform to show people on the less scenic route of life that they can chase dreams too. That’s why my brand is BRAVE. Because I’ve been in a hole and clawed my way out, because I know what it’s like to have to do that. I know what it’s like to live life on the edge of that hole and have to claw again and again and again and not know if it’ll be a day you fall again or a day you hang on.

I had a rough day. I’m disabled and today I felt it. Yesterday I was a strong, capable businesswoman. I’m both things. I’m allowed to be both and I’m allowed to admit to both.

And I’m going to be BRAVE and show you both, to show you can be both too.

(I’m okay. I needed a lot of sleep, saw my doctor, and booked a deep tissue massage. I’m afraid for clients or potential clients to see this and not want me to do their nails anymore. I’m afraid for people to think I want pity. But I don’t want my page to only be for clients, to only serve that aspect of my business, I also want to be an educator and an inspiration to others behind me on the same path. And I want to be myself, and be successful as myself. If you have days like these and it scares you and makes you question if you can do this, I will show you that we can. Tomorrow’s another day!)

Today makes 10 years of marriage. I’m speechless, where does the time go? How am I old enough to have been married an entire decade?

I am taking this weekend off to celebrate our anniversary and Mother’s Day with my family.

Meet Your Manicurist!

Hi! My name is Jill, and I’m a 34 year old resident of Farmington Hills. I’ve been married for 10 years and I have one daughter, two Dalmatians, and one tuxedo cat. 🎀🐾🐾🐾. I was born and raised in the area, and received a Bachelor’s in political science from the University of Michigan.

I’m passionate about education. I attended BGM Science of Beauty and Business for my nail school education, and I am constantly taking courses to enhance my services. I’m currently IBX, Aprés Gel X, Luminary, and Mozhzheri Russian Manicure certified, and I’m working toward Kokoist Level 1 and 2, Master Gel Nails, and Onyfix certifications.

I specialize in luxury, and therefore only use premium Japanese potted gels in my salon. I do high end dry manicures with detailed cuticle work using diamond Russian flame bits. All of my tools and surfaces are meticulously sanitized and disinfected per state regulations. This is not your average neighborhood nail salon. My salon is private, fume-free, and designed with your peace and pampering in mind.

Behind the scenes update… today I took a class to get certified in Luminary! Tara is an amazing instructor and I learned so much. Luminary is a brand of strengthening gel for overlays that is comparable to what I already currently offer, but it has a lot of name recognition among clients so I thought I’d try it out so I can do it if it’s requested. I’m happy to have another certification to add to my growing pile.
