Happy Pride Month! Pride month is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for LGBTQ+ Americans. During June, we reflect on the progress we have made as a nation in the fight for justice, inclusion, and equality while reaffirming our commitment to do more to support LGBTQ+ rights at home and abroad. #LoveIsLove #pride2022

“During Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) Pride Month, we reflect on the progress we have made as a Nation in the fight for justice, inclusion, and equality while reaffirming our commitment to do more to support LGBTQI+ rights at home and abroad. I often say tat America can be defined by one word: possibilities. This month, we celebrate generations of LGBTQI+ people who have fought to make the possibilities of our Nation real for every American” (Joseph R. Biden Jr, A Proclomation on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Pride Month, 2022).

To round up Mental Health Awareness Month, we at the CSCE department want you to know that we see you, we hear you, and we acknowledge that your feelings are valid. Need help? Ask anyone in the department for direction and we will use all our resources to find you the best solution. Happy end of May!

May continues, and we’re still talking about mental health! Today we want to focus on self love and self care. Here are a few helpful tips to make you feel like your best self: 1. Get plenty of rest - not just sleep! Rest your mind when you feel overwhelmed. 2. Challenge a negative thought about yourself. Where does that feeling come from? 3. Practice positive self-talk. You don’t have to talk to your mirror to do this, just remind yourself that you’re doing your best, you matter, and you’re here for a reason. 4. Practice gratitude. being grateful for the little things can spark joy in your day-to-day activities. 5. Remember who you are. You’ve been through a lot and come out stronger every time. Look at you go! A big thanks to the @uofaengineering Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for hosting the May JEDI Hour on mental health with Gonzalo Camp from @uofahealth
