I truly don't understand why traders move markets on the initial BLS jobs numbers. The revisions they make the next month ALWAYS show how inaccurate their initial reports are.

This revision has the potential to move the market significantly in mortgage rates favor at least. Lets hope the FOMC is paying attention.

Been a little MIA the last few days as my grandkids have been visiting from Texas. Got some great quality family time with all three of our grands, as well as all the kids (minus Tanner) for an afternoon. Makes our hearts full.

Just when you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, you hear the chugga-chugga of a train...

Jobs numbers were better than expected, and we're all spending too much money. Those were the driving forces of todays backslide in economic news for rates.

We still have some opportunities for good news: the PCE 8/30, CPI 9/11, and PPI 9/12 before the next Fed meeting. Lets hope for some good news to justify a rate cut.

Fingers crossed the CPI comes in today better than expected and helps convince the Fed to start their easing next meeting!

Domino 2 fell today, just not as hard as we'd like to see. CPI numbers were in line with expectations, and for the first time since 2021 the headline year over year CPI fell below 3% to 2.9%

This keeps us on track for a possible September 18th rate cut. Between now and then dates to watch are the 8/30 PCE, 9/11 CPI and 9/12 PPI.

Fingers crossed we see continuing deceleration.

More good news on the economic front today for interest rates. The PPI came in lower than expected, indicating further cooling in the economy, and boosting the chances for a rate cut in September.

Tomorrows CPI will be the next domino... lets hope it follows suit.
