This was a new experience for me… but one that will help me continue to grow as an MUA👇🏼👇🏼 For the first time in my career as an MUA I walked through each and every step with my bride to ensure that she felt as beautiful as we already saw her. It’s not that I was never open to the idea before- I hadn’t had a client want to do so leading up to this point. She wanted a medium coverage to help hide some freckles and give a good base with darker but neutral eye makeup, thick winged eyeliner & lashes that would stand well against the darker eye makeup & last but not least subtlety carved brows. Lips, under eye concealer, heavy contour & blush wasn’t something she wanted for her big day. So that’s precisely what we did. She felt beautiful & boy did she look BEAUTIFUL. Often times the bride/client knows themselves best!! As an MUA I would HIGHLY recommend allowing a hesitant bride to assist in the art of her bridal makeup. How could she not love it? SHE HELPED CREATE IT 🫶🏼

•The absolute cutest mother/daughter duo• Doing their makeup was such a sweet experience because the entire time both of them were getting their make up done the other one kept saying "oh my gosh, she looks so good" or "you're gonna love it so much". Not to mention, witnessing the bond between the two of them enough to make me tear up. After the girls left, they told me that they had the best day with each other because they both felt so pretty, and they thanked me for doing that for them. Doing make up on people is so much more than just applying make up. It's playing a role in reminding people how beautiful they are and giving them the confidence to finally see it for themselves. Nothing will ever beat watching the way somebody leaves versus how they came in. They talk different, their shoulders are rolled back, they smile more, and they feel good. The best advice i’ve ever gotten is to “get paid doing something you’d do for free”. 👇🏼 Meaning? If you’d do it for free, it more than likely brings you joy or fuels your passion. So… why not turn THAT thing into your career so you can enjoy what you do & get paid? I’m not saying it’s easy, but following that advice was the best thing I ever did for myself. It was a slow start, I worked another job in the beginning. I posted on social media and asked for makeup models, I offered my services for free, then $20 and so on until a couple years passed and now I own my dream salon. I STILL am nowhere near where I want to be, BUT I’m a heck of a lot closer than I was. 🪄This is our personal opinion do what you will with this information 🪄 No lash artist should be taking 45 min - 1 hr for a full set. A proper consultation and prep takes atleast 15 minutes! A stylist should always measure and map out your eyes which takes even more time. Seeing if you have any irritation to glue tape and even light sensitivity before you even get lashes done. Isolating and placement is a huge thing. If lash extensions are not applied on the lash properly you WILL have poor retention, damaged lashes and you can even go home having pain. Lashes shouldn't just be placed anywhere on the eye. There is no way someone can isolate over 100+ lashes in 45 minutes. ‼️‼️LASHES SHOULD NEVER BE RUSHED‼️‼️
Life has a way of humbling you sometimes But I wouldn’t have it any other way ✨ PROPER BOUNDARIES ARE CRUCIAL IN THIS INDUSTRY 👏🏻 Set hours to respond within or dedicate an hour a day getting back to people. It’s hard but it takes away the some of the guilt of not being able to get back to people as soon as you can. Just make sure you inform them of how you operate so they dont grow upset. “I didn’t get to record near as much as I did last time but this is my client THAT DROVE OVER AN HOUR TO SEE ME😭😭😭 (so blessed)!! So my client had hair all the way down to her waist that was so color damaged it was hard to brush without it braking off or tangling so she stopped brushing it and kept putting it up in buns which lead to matting, she had tried to get it out but it just kept tangling even more! she came and seen me we worked on this hair ALL DAY!! 13 hours non stop and we had to cut off atleast 7 inch’s. I don’t want people to get false hope and think they get to keep all of their hair! But I do save as much as I can and will work on it for hours on end to get beautiful results!! This was one of the most heartwarming moments in our careers this far 🥹 Let me set the scene- a sweet women walks into Powder Room- in a crowd of people and with the most gentle voice, she asked us if we “brush hair”, she went on to say that she had not left the house without a bandana/headband in a very long time. She went through a couple of very dark years and she was bound and determined to take her life back. EVERYONE who entered the salon while she was there was so moved by her story. One client paid for her service as a gift, another business (inspire nutrition) made her a nutritional tea with collagen (for hair growth), the whole salon was moved by her strength. I’m so honored that Powder Room could be a part of her story. Thank you Samantha Kaitlynn for putting in the work and giving this woman her confidence back. Thank you @inspirenutrition for the tea. Thank you, Morgan for being the kindest soul and paying for her service.
