Carmine Istvan, Fishkill Highway Superintendent
Integrity. Honesty. Commitment To Community. Time to make the town work for the people of Fishkill Count on Carmine for Fishkill Town Board in Fishkill, NY.
Parade of lights was a huge success in the Village of Fishkill. Great Job Daniel Patrick Kathy Walsh Martin and the 125 Anniversary Committee
This afternoon, Town Councilman Carmine Istvan, Deputy Supervisor Hal Brilliant and County Legislator Yvette Valdes Smith teamed up at Town Hall to distribute hundreds of COVID-19 test kits to Fishkill residents.
Councilman Istvan called the event a success after the trio distributed more than 400 kits to residents.
"We know there's a high demand for these kits and residents want to be able to test to keep themselves, their families and community safe," Councilman Istvan said. "We gave out hundreds of kits, and that's a great day's work."
Legislator Valdes Smith agreed, and pledged to continue working with other leaders at the County to make COVID-19 services accessible to residents in Fishkill and across the County.
"We're dedicated to making the health and safety of our community a top priority as we continue to navigate the challenges of COVID," Legislator Valdes Smith said. "Making testing, vaccination and COVID information available and accessible to all is key."
Those who were unable to attend Tuesday's distribution event but who emailed Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra to reserve a test kit can come to Town Hall on Wednesday, Feburary 2, 2022 between 7pm and 8pm to pick up their kit during the Town Board meeting.

I’ll never forget. And 20 years later, it’s our responsibility as Americans to make sure no one forgets. Thank you to the Village of Fishkill for today’s 9/11 ceremony.
We will never forget
Twenty years, later, and 20 years from now, we cannot allow this date to live in history. We
cannot allow the images, lessons, and lives to become distant memories. We have become so busy arguing, we cannot allow ourselves to forget our commonality, that we were attacked not because of what did, but because of what we believe in: liberty and freedom.
Heroes of that fateful day, and in the days, months, and years following, have been
innumerable.
Our first responders who ran toward the smoke and fire in the World Trade Center and at the Pentagon; the men and women of United Flight 93 who fought back became the first heroes of our war on terror; every soldier who fought overseas in the Global War on Terror; the members of our intelligence community who worked behind the scenes to prevent further attacks; those from other countries who supported our mission – all heroes.
As we grieve and remember, we must cherish the memories of those lost and honor them all by shining the light of unity as bright as we did in the days that followed that infamous date. Let us honor them with our love of America, by loving Americans, loving each other. Let us recommit to the way of life terrorists seek to destroy, and with that resolve let us never forget nor ever concede that which is right, good and just.
Please be prepared for damaging wind gust and isolated tornadoes
Threat for severe thunderstorms into tonight:
· Main threat: damaging wind gusts
· Isolated tornadoes are possible
Storms will be capable of producing heavy downpours, which may result in isolated to scattered flash flooding.
If I am elected this is what I would try and help bring home to Fishkill. Saving tax $$$$

Please prepare yourself for some heavy rains. I will be around Town all day during the storm assessing storm damage
Remnants of Ida to Bring Tropical Rains to the Hudson Valley
We'll have a few post discussions this evening regarding the details for Wednesday across the region... starting with this summary:
- Rain develops near or shortly after sunrise
- Steady rain (heavy at times) last through the day
- Heaviest rain likely from late afternoon through evening
- Rain should taper after midnight
- Rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches likely
- Localized higher rainfall amounts as high as 8" can't be ruled out
This graphic shows the National Weather Service has a high risk (greater than 50% chance) of excessive rainfall on Wednesday / Wednesday Night, from I-84 on south… and a moderate risk (25% to 50% chance) for the northern half of the Hudson Valley. The Excessive Rainfall Outlook judges the "risk of rainfall exceeding flash flood guidance within 25 miles of a point". In other words, on this guidance, if you're in Monroe, there is a high risk (greater than 50% chance) of a Flash Flood Warning somewhere from your location, up to I-84, down to the NJ border, back to Middletown, east to Peekskill (roughly speaking).
Make sure you are prepared for some very heavy rainfall between late tonight and Thursday morning. More discussion shortly...

Fishkill be prepared for some wet weather and tropical storm winds. Bring in lawn furniture and prepare your yard for any dangers. I will be around Town like usually assessing the damage in my truck. Be safe everyone
5pm Henri Advisory- As we suspected in our morning post, western trends have continued, it is important to note that these trends may still continue overnight. We emphasize the importance of being prepared for the impacts of Henri across the region. The further west the storm tracks the more impactful it will be. This is a slow moving storm, please take note that reservoirs are near or at capacity, creeks and rivers are running high and grounds are saturated. In addition we are entering a full moon phase which will cause higher tide cycles and those will potentially impact the Hudson River and the smaller stem rivers that drain to it.
We will continue to have updates as things continue to develop. Stay tuned.
