Slinging Meat made the trip to Segra Park for the inaugural on Friday to complete in an invitation only contest where we cooked chicken wings for thousands as well as celebrity judges, including and . The was playing and people were dancing. Crews were filming and footage will likely be on tv soon- especially when they realize the Slinging Meat team were part of the season finale of the this past season. If they find out we were also voted Best of the P*e Dee the last two years (*our other job) we will likely have our own show within weeks- who even knows 🤣. Slinging Meat made the trip up to Williamston this weekend to participate in the annual Pig in the Park BBQ Competition. As always, there was some fierce competition but we were able to get a call to the stage with a 3rd pace finish in pork. We also received two more of the coveted 16+ scores (one for butts and one for ribs). Congrats to Hothbbqsc with the 1st place finish in pork and Monkey Bottom Boys for the 1st place and high score in ribs. Without a doubt the The Good Charcoal Company briquettes used in the big Deep South and the Hunsaker Smokers drum helped us accomplish this! We love this venue and appreciate everyone that comes out to the event. We will certainly be headed back next year!

Slinging Meat made the trip over to Chester, SC for the second year in a row for annual Hog on the Hill BBQ Competition this weekend. Friday evening brought us some high winds and rain but then cleared up to make way for a nice event. We started the contest off with the Anything but Butts contest where we were able to secure a 3rd place finish with our waffle cone banana pudding. On Saturday we ran into some issues getting our pulled pork finished to our liking but were able to come away with a 1st place in ribs and another 16+ score. Congrats to Tail-Gater Hater BBQ Sauce for getting 1st in butts and getting the GC. Also congrats to Ray Dotson and Amelia Dotson with Rise-In-Swine BBQ for getting 1st in the Anything but Butts contest, as well as everyone else who got a call! Next stop: Williamston’s Pig in the Park!

Instead of competing this weekend, Slinging Meat attended the Special Forces Association Chapter 6 charity shooting match in Gaston where we were able to feed everyone that came. We provided pulled pork BBQ, mac and cheese, green beans and potatoes, slaw and some delicious white bread to those in attendance. It was a great event for an even better cause. We are thankful for everyone that came out and showed support and to allow us to be a part of the event.

Slinging Meat set out on the trip to Florence, SC (about 0 miles away) this Friday and Saturday to attend the Youth Mentors of the P*e Dee Annual BBQ Competition. This is always a great event and was a good time this year as well even with the crazy wind on Friday night.
We were able to take 2nd Place in the “Sweets” division with our world famous banana pudding. We got a 3rd place finish with a 16+ score in pork, as well as a 3rd place finish with another 16+ score in ribs. These scores were enough to get us the Grand Champion of the event. Congratulations to Tail-Gater Hater BBQ Sauce for getting Reserved GC as well as 1st in pork, and FFITS Grilling Team for getting first in ribs.

Awards presented at 2:00 Saturday.
The Cook-Off takes place behind Palmetto Peddlers at the corner of Hoffmeyer Road and Darlington Street.
Tickets: $10/day/person. Free admission for children under 12 with paying adult.

We made the trip to Union, SC for the Carolina Smoke-N-Grass Festival this weekend. It was great to get back into it and to spend some time with our BBQ family. Out of the 19 teams competing, we got calls to the stage for both pork and ribs, with 16+ calls in each as well. We finished 2nd in pork (butts) and 3rd in ribs. Congratulations to Backwoods Bar-B-Que with the 1st place pork and Sadie Beth Barbeque Company on 1st place ribs! Also congratulations to all other teams that got calls, and a big shout-out to all the teams that competed. It is tough to put as much work and money into these competitions and then come up just a bit short when it is all said and done. We appreciate the fine judges and South Carolina Barbeque Association for putting on such a great event. We were able to bring home some hardware and $$$ at the Sooie BBQ Competition in Mauldin last weekend! Out of 27 of the best teams in SC we were able to get a 2nd place finish in BBQ (butts), a 16+ score with a 7th in ribs, and 2nd in ATB with banana pudding. This weekend join us as we travel to Greenwood, SC to compete with 95 other teams in the annual Festival of Discovery BBQ Competition!

Slinging Meat enjoyed another great event at the Pig in the Park BBQ Festival & Cook-Off in Williamston, SC this weekend competing against 17 of the best teams in the state. We loaded the 270 Smokers and Traeger GrillsT= Ironwood XL up, along with the B&B Charcoal briquets and pellets. Combining some of the best products from Heath Riles BBQ, Blues Hog, and Meat Mitch (**exclusive sponsorship opportunities welcome**), we were able to secure our best overall finish yet. We secured two 16+ scores, getting calls to the stage with a 3rd place in pork (butts) and a 2nd place in ribs. These finishes not only added to the hardware collection but also put a little more $$$ in the bank. We were not the only team to get multiple calls this weekend. We were lucky enough to share the stage with Monkey Bottom Boys, who took 1st in both categories, and Casual Smokers for finished 2nd in butts and 3rd in ribs. Congrats to Andrew Massey and the rest of his team with Swig-n-Pig (4th), as well as Matt Talbot and his group with High on the Hog BBQ (5th) for also making to the stage, as well as everyone who just missed it. We all know how easy it is to get so close on the scoresheet but not get the call in the end. Slinging Meat enjoyed another great event competing at the Pickin' and Piggin' BBQ Cook-Off at Saluda Shoals Park in Irmo this weekend. We loaded the 270 Smokers and Traeger Grills Ironwood XL up, along with the B&B Charcoal briquets and pellets. Using a mixture of sauces and rubs from Heath Riles BBQ, Blues Hog and Kosmo's Q Competition BBQ Products, we were able to earn some $$$ and come home with some hardware. We got the call for 3rd in BBQ (pork butts) out of 16 teams and also finished 5th in ribs. Congrats to Casual Smokers for the 1st place finish in Butts and Sadie Beth BBQ Co. for getting 1st in Ribs, as well as everyone else who got a call. What a weekend for Slinging Meat competing at the Youth Mentors of the P*e Dee in Florence S.C. We were down a man but still loaded up to sling some meat for the good people of Florence. We loaded the 270 Smokers and Traeger Grills Ironwood XL up, along with the B&B Charcoal briquets and pellets. Using a mixture of sauces and rubs from Heath Riles BBQ, Meat Mitch and Blues Hog we were still able to come home with some hardware and $$$. We finished with a 1st place in the Anything but Butts (ATB) Sweet division with Josh's banana pudding. We also got a call for 4th place in Ribs, with another over 16 score! Congrats to Tail-Gater Hater BBQ Sauce with the 1st in Butts and Ribs, as well as Blazin' Bullets Barbeque on the ATB savory win. Slinging Meat made the trip over to Sumter, SC this weekend for the 11th Annual BSA BBQ Competition. We were able to get a call with a 2nd place in ribs while also getting our second prized 16+ score with a 16.2417. We also finished 4th in wings on Friday.
