Thank you to all who got out to vote and your support! It's an honor to get to serve the city of Forney on the council. I appreciate Nate Dettmer's commitment to keep the campaigns clean and respectful and let the voters decide. Nate has served the community in several ways and I deeply respect that.

I'm looking forward to getting started and you all have my commitment to ensure this community is one to be proud of and the best place in Texas to live, work, worship, and raise a family!

I want to thank my family for their support and willingness to let me take time to serve! Thank you to the Forney Police and Fire associations for their support! Thank you to Big Jay's for the signage! Most importantly, I thank God for leading me to this spot. Great things ahead!

In my 20's, yardwork was a chore. In my 30's, I found myself paying attention to invasive weeds and listening to AM radio gardening shows. By 40, I was reading about native plants and propogation techniques and getting excited about the first blooms on our peach trees. Now, thanks to my wife, I am concerned with the plight of the Monarch butterfly, and bees, and hummingbirds, and bird migrations...and still listening to gardening shows.

Forney sits on really fertive soil and along several migration routes for our winged friends. I want to step away from normal election topics and discuss our opportunities to create a truly beautiful place to live that connects us to nature and each other. Gardening transcends politics and lets you engage with people that you might normally disagree with.

There is opportunity to promote and educate and connect our community on beautification efforts. Planting natives and pollinators and fruits and vegetables are great family activities, but also enhance the overall connection to nature...and our neighbors. We live in an area with a ton of resources to help educate and promote home and community gardening. I will be that connective resource for our city!

If you were out and about this week, you likely saw these new signs around town. I can't fully express what an honor it is to have the support of our police and fire associations. When I go to work I think about operational efficiencies...when these men and women go to work they focus on saving lives and facing danger head on. THANK YOU and God Bless you! Communities are built on feeling safe and my commitment is to support or public safety personnel.

Looking forward to the Meet the Candidate events tomorrow evening (April 11th) in town. There will one event held at Alfredo's starting at 7pm and also one at Eno's starting at the same time. I plan to begin the evening at Alfredo's and then head to Eno's.

These are great opportunities to hear from the candidates, hear our ideas, and get to put faces with names. And, I will be unveiling my grand plan to get the Masters golf tournament relocated to Forney! Joking of course, but I am excited to get to meet some great people!

See you tomorrow,
Greg

Glad to see the city council approved adoption of the new Comprehensive Plan. This was really well done and is full of ideas on how to continue to improve our community. These plans serve as a great tool to guide decisions on development, park spaces, infrastructure, etc.

I did not find a link to share here, but I assume it will be available soon. Great job to everyone involved and especially to the citizen groups who took time to participate in the feedback sessions!

Hello Forney Voters! I am grateful and excited to be a candidate for City Council Place 6 in our great community. Over the next month, I will be sharing information and updates concerning my campaign, so please stay tuned. I am not an avid user of social media, so please excuse any content that you might find lame or not viral-worthy!

First, a few things about me. Our family has lived, recreated, and attended church in Forney for nearly a decade now. What brought us here were the common bonds we were able to build with other families doing those same activities. I want to serve the city in a way that preserves and expands those opportunities. As Vice Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission, I have a strong appreciation for how little precious space we have left to make this city the best community we can be.

I hope you’ll consider me for Place 6 and get out to vote on May 6th. In the coming days, I will be working more on this site and should have yard signs available very soon. You can message me if you are interested and I’d be happy to bring one by and visit with you. Please follow and share my page with friends and family.

Thanks again for your consideration!

Greg Helm
